I read where you are supposed to take out a few screws on the inside of the fender and pull the cover back to access the motor, but on the Limited version the fenders appear to be different. This is where I'm getting stuck. I'm not sure what is the correct way to take them off so i can get to the motor?
Hey man, not sure if you figured it out yet, but I had to do the same thing, and I finally got to mine. Yes, undo the screws. What I'm guessing you're seeing now is a plastic round "head" looking thing where the bolt/screw came out? Just pull the fender well off of that. It's a little scary, but the fender well won't break. That plastic thing is a little plug that inserts through the fender well, into a square hole. It has two "legs" which lock it into place.
I didn't pull the fender well completely off, just the back rear section (nearest passenger door). Once you get the fender well pulled off, the little plastic plugs are more easily gotten to, you can maybe remove them and reuse them. If not, rip them out and buy new ones. It cost me $2 for 4 of them. I think they are easier to deal with in warmer weather, it was very cold the day I did it and the legs would not depress well, I could only save one of them.
I took some pictures of what mine look like. Along the outside of the fender well, there were bolts which held the fender trim piece on. On the inside (nearest the motor), the same plugs were there, just no bolts going into them. I shot a picture of one on the inside of the well.
There is also a picture of the fender well, with the square hole. It has square holes at each one of these plug locations. Also is a picture of the little plug.
Again, remove the bolts and pull the fender well off.... it'll pop off the head of the plug. Do this to enough places to access the motor. Remove the plugs by squeezing the two little legs together, and pull it out of the hole. It takes 11 or so if you wanna replace all of them, buy them first maybe? That way, you can look at what you're working with (and was what I did).
Do what you have to with the antenna motor, then line the fender well back up with the holes. Push the plugs back through the fender well into the metal retention spots. Drive your bolts back through and you're done !!
The Toyota part number for the plugs is; 90189-06028. They call it a "screw grommet". My dealership only had 4, I could have used another 2, will have to get them later.
