Antenna Replacement

Ok, I know there are lots of threads about replacing antenna's but I cant seem to find exactly what I am looking for. I have a stubby antenna that was recommended on this site and I am wanting to replace my oem antenna with it. To do so, do I need to remove the oem antenna's motor, cable, and everything or can I just replace the mast. If someone knows of a thread I can reference to that would be very helpful, I'd hate to be "that guy" who asks the same questions that have been answered a hundred times.

Here's my build, and it shows what needs to be done. Pretty easy job, should only take you a couple hours to do. I bought a cheap antenna from a local parts store for about $15.

Awesome, I assumed that is what I would have to do but my new antenna did not come with a new wire. It is just a universal mast replacement. So where would I find the wire replacement?

Also do you know of any good places to wheel this side of st louis? I'd love to meet up with some people on here for a weekend.

Try Radio Shack, they usually have this stuff.

Here's a link to my local club. Check out the events section on the site. We mostly stick around the Missouri area, but sometime venture out. A few of us are heading down to the Lonestar Jamboree in Texas this May.
