The NEW AND IMPROVED Antman Garage is done!!!
Well my friends, I have been slacking on the MODS as of late for a good reason. Some of you may have caught me mentioning that I was ripping apart the Antman garage.
Well, it's pretty much done! I've been working on it for months and at times it seemed like I would never get done.
History- I fixed my (rather small) garage up when I moved in 9 years ago. Painted the floor, insulated the walls, hung pegboard, lots of lights, tapped into the HVAC ductwork, etc. It served me well- with the exception of the cheap particle board cabinets that I bought at the time. They started breaking years ago, and I have been screwing and gluing (easy there Titanpat...) them over and over. A couple of months ago one of the drawers broke apart dumping parts and hardware all over my feet. I had enough.
Soooo, I started selling stuff on Craigslist. My old tool cart, stand-up air compressor and tools I never used, boat parts, extra hand tools, furniture in the basement. Bunch of crap, really, that I didn't need. It bought me new cabinets!
You won't believe what people will buy on Craigslist- I put a bunch of junk Taiwan tools together in a pile for $40 and they went in 2 days. Whatever!
Sorry for the rambling- I'm psyched at how it turned out!

One of my goals was to get my table saw out from behind the boat and more accessible...
Some cool details:
I screwed a sheet of starboard to the workbench top as a "disposable" surface to cut, hammer or drill on top of.
Hidden, slide-out IPOD holder!
Bottle opener from Reata- Love it- Thanks John!
Making use of space- clamp holder in a useless corner:
Workbench "gutter" to hold stuff outta the way:
I spent 2 days stripping and scrubbing my 9 yr old epoxy floor and reapplied 5 coats of Zep floor wax (like they use in hospitals). PITA but worth it!
And finally my new Harbor Freight tool cart with a Craftsman badge stuck on the front. (Ghetto Craftsman?) This will be my rolling electrical one stop shop!
Oh yeah- in case you missed it, that's a Kuerig Mini coffee machine flush-mounted into the front wall there. A man has to have his coffee.
Question is- who's gonna be the first down for some mods?!

First congrats on your big win sir... I think the fact that at any time throughout the day you are answering several different PMs helping someone trouble shoot a Mod helped your poll numbers but I think the new rims and tires gave you the win...plus the photo shoot in the snow looks pretty sweet too!
As far as the garage goes it looks great! I have also been secretly building my own man cave garage too, nothing close to yours (yet) but now I definitely want it to end up like yours....It all began when preparing to do my lift... i started with spray painting a used tool box and now it has turned into another obsession. I found this thread the other day when i googled ways to organize my sockets
The 12-Gauge Garage - The Garage Journal Board
It's pretty awesome to get some ideas from...(like the hidden lift!!!) I relized how hard it is to try to complete a Mod without the right tools for the job and how much longer it takes to do a mod in an unorganized environment... I can think of a bunch of examples... "trying" to drill holes through my frame to mount the icon remote res. with my cordless dill...or trying to file down a high edge on a control arm without a round file etc... And running to the store mid-mod gets pretty annoying... I just added a vise to my bench and had to stop to recharge my drill half way through.... So tonight it was finally time to upgraded to a new makita drill & impact combo(corded drill would have fixed the prob too)... Air compressor and Air tools are next on the list...

Thanks everybody! I'm really happy with the way it turned out too.
Space is what's holding me back from the fridge. If I ever get a new boat (it will be bigger and won't likely fit!) I'll have plenty of space.
I guess I could put a mini in one of the cabinets...
As far as a lift- I would want one that I could stand up under and there's a support beam for the roof that's about 8' off the floor so there goes that idea.

Awesome garage remodel. I've lived in my house for almost 4 years and redone my "garage situation" 3 times. It's finally "done" for now, but still not nearly as cool as yours!

Time for some pics!
Took a trip to Elk Neck St Forest today to exercise my 4WD a bit. All the roads are dirt so I stayed in 4WD the entire time.
I used all my photography skills (I also have bow staff and "num chuck" skills, or I could catch you a delicious Bass.....)
Anywho- As I continue to flirt with the idea of a "real" offroad excursion, in the meantime I had fun today dipping my big toe in the dirt a bit.
Enjoy the pics- I hope!
Nothing looks steep in pictures! Maybe I shoulda' took the hitch out?!
I went on a little (super easy) hike too...

Is this the park right by the lighthouse? I went out there many many moons ago to see the lighthouse
Maybe I'll have to make a trip out there when the weather is nicer! Are the OHV trails clearly marked and what not? I had a hell of a time figuring out GWNF trails maps
Yes, it's the park by the lighthouse.
OK- It's pretty much just dirt roads. Nothing difficult at all. Even TitanPat couldn't get lost here.
Last time I was there an older lady was driving her Prius to take a hike! Around my area there aren't any dirt roads that are long enough to give the 4WD a warmup, that's why I go to Elk Neck. All the shots that show flexing were off the sides of the roads- pretty much just big berms.
Still a lot of fun- but- I wouldn't drive too far to experience it!
