Hey I know this is an old thread but I just picked up a 2016 TEP. I am thinking on doing the indie fog light mod but it got me thinking. I had a 3000GT on which I did the same mod but I didn't have to use a separate relay. Instead, I took the factory fog light relay, cut the wire that powers the relay when the headlights are on, and spliced that to an ignition source. Would that be another way to get it done? So now, instead of the fog light relay being activated only when the headlights are on, it would be activated whenever the key is in the IGN position. I don't have a wiring diagram of this car so I am not entirely sure if this would work but I thought I'd share it here to get some feedback. Thanks.

The reason the mod is a work-around is because the factory relays are sealed in a box under the dash. You cannot access them, therefor I completely bypassed them.

how great is it that they brought back the classic 1970's Lite branding/packaging? pretty sure they only did it "for a limited time" promotion, but their sales must've spiked so dramatically the "classic" packaging is now back to stay. love it.
and now the original "steinie" bottle is back "for a limited time" too. hope you get to enjoy more than a few of those this holiday season, [MENTION=65614]Antman[/MENTION]. though something tells me they'll also be sticking around longer than Miller's marketing department originally planned...
now excuse me while i kick open this here aluminum mesh lawn chair, crank up the Captain and Tennille, and pull a tab or two or six. :mullet:

Gotcha. Given the car is only a week old, I haven't really looked at modding the car so much yet. Thanks for the feedback. I now know that there's a sealed treasure chest under my dash.

THIS. completely scrub question, but where do i purchase a relay? lol and every over component i would need to pull this off.... ive reread this post hundred times over and i'm finally deciding to under take it. but i don't hve the slightest idea where to buy any of these electrical components.

Relay? You'll probably want one with the wiring harness to make connections easier, unless you want to do crimps and heat shrink tubing for the spade connectors.
I bought these for mine, it comes with 5, but for the price, well worth having a few extra layin' around---at least for me, I like relays!!! :biggrin2:

My guess is that you'll spend another 3 or 4 bucks for the harness that goes with the relay, so while the one I bought is over 12 bucks, you get everything, X5, and these are the smaller relays than the one you posted, so it will be easier to mount/hide.

I pick up the parts for the rear diff breather mod tomorrow and was looking for alternatives to cutting into the fuel filler neck. This was exactly what I was looking for...for all the reasons you listed.
