Seen this on a linepole in Antmans hood. I ask for everyone to keep an eye out for it. (Atleast he still has the one in his truck.)

ANTMAN MOD #9

Always on DRL's (Daytime Running Lights)


Some of you expressed that you would like your DRL to be on whenever you want. In stock form they automatically turn off whenever the headlights are on. This MOD is very easy! Took me 5 minutes (after the troubleshooting session.... ;): )

The DRL will be on anytime the truck is running, regardless of which lights are on or off. The stalk will not turn the DRL's off anymore (I may work on that one later - EDIT- DONE, but it's a royal PITA http://www.toyota-4runner.org/963785-post319.html ) :)
If you want to be able to turn the DRL's off, I'll explain that in a minute.

Oh yeah, your turn signals will still work as normal.


Let's get to it...:party:




This is the wire you need to tap into and ground. Plug #F11-White, Pin #5. The wire color is light green.

Now would be the time to praise Nashman69g for posting the EWD...again! :)

Grab this panel and pull it towards you to access the plug - no tools needed.

Here is the wire. You can see the hole in mine from the test probe...

Use a pink 3M wire tap, or similar and tap into the wire to connect a wire lead for the ground.

Here is a good ground that's close, same as used for my Fog MOD.

As I stated before, the DRL's will be on whenever the truck is running.

If you want to still be able to turn them off, simply run the tapped wire lead to a switch, and the other terminal on the switch will need to be grounded. I will do that next unless I can figure out how to turn them off with the stalk again...

You are a MasterMind and this is the kind of thing I started doing in the 80's (though then limited to toggle switches (for everything under the son e.g. CB's, EQ's, Amps, Old School Fog's, even Reverb units) to mine and other friends rides. Just don't have the time anymore but thanks to you and others on this forum, which is a true godsend by the way, I will tackle many of the mod's since you have done the hard work. The photos are also amazing on this forum and make even the most complicated of things seem doable by most anyone. I can't say thanks enough to everyone.

:). Check it out- the first person to think my photos are actually good! Eat your heart out Kraeken! (FYI Kraeken is a top notch photographer)

Please forgive me if this is a stupid question, but do you need to disconnect the battery to do this? I want to do this, but I also have no desire to reprogram the garage door openers and XM presets.
 
It's not a stupid question!
Fact is, it's a good idea to disconnect the battery anytime you are working on the electrical system. Did I? No. Keep in mind I've had my dash apart about 20 times though...
As long as you are careful you will be fine. In this case you are only working with a ground wire. Just be aware of what you are touching and take it easy!:fishing:

I've disconnected the battery several times and haven't ever had to reprogram the garage door openers. Lost the radio presets though.

Yet another question for you Antman; do you know of any 1156's or 1156A's which are close to the look of the PIAA fog's so that they were the same yellow color or is that why you opted to go with ultra whites on your DRL's? After seeing your Fog's I want to go that route and since they are different in color I am thinking unless someone knows of a 1156 bulb in the yellow color (rather than amber) I may go bright white or even slight blue tint on the DRL's now.

I don't know of any 1156 bulbs that will match the PIAA fogs- but I'm far from a lighting expert... If you really want to find out- ask the forum(start a thread on it). I'm sure someone on here has an answer for ya... :)
 
Airlift 1000

Taking you back to the Airlift 1000s: Now that you have been running them for several months, can you detect any abrasion wearing on the walls of the bags? A while back I ordered a set and started the installation, but I became fearful that the compression motion of the spring would chafe against the bag and eventually wear through. So I abandoned the project and returned the kit to the supplier. What is your opinion on this? I would still like to have the benefits of this product. Air shocks might work too but I can't find any made for this truck.

emerson96929 does this mod work for the limited edition also? Seems pretty easy mod. Would like to do this.

So far so good with the airbags. I had a chance to get under there today, and am happy to say they look brand new. I don't think they move much once in place- I tend to keep about 15psi in mine.

The DRL MOD should be the same for the limited too!
