any 2015 TE owners in New Brunswick, Canada?

First of all, great site, great trucks!

I'm trying to test drive a 2015 TE, and it is my understanding that they are pretty scarce here. My dealer said they could get one in 90 days, with a deposit. I would much prefer to test drive one, sit in one, crawl around on the ground around one before buying it.....

If there are any owners in Eastern Canada (I'm in Fredericton, NB) that would be willing to meet me and talk a bit about their truck, I would REALLY appreciate it.

It seems absurd that my dealership can't arrange a test drive, but searching the TEP availability on this site has led me to believe that I have to accept this.

Hey Rob, I ran into the same thing here in Manitoba. Only SR5s to test drive so I had to order on faith that the TE was worth the extra scratch. Here are the things I have noticed are different from the SR5 in my first month of ownership.

1.) It rides better. Being a Canadian TE it comes with KDSS. Fantastic system. You will find less roll in corners - especially on the highway, and more willingness to flex off road. The downsides being a little more complexity and it seems to get in the way a bit if you are planning on extensive armor and suspension mods although neither are insurmountable. This in and of itself makes the Trail worth it for me. I have never driven a better handling body-on-frame, solid rear axle SUV or truck in my life. Although I would love to give a Land Cruiser or a GX460 a try.

2.) More buttons. The crawl control is a novelty for some and a life saver for others, myself finding it to be genuinely helpful. The multiterrain select I don't know if I have noticed a difference with it on or off, more testing is required. You will not regret having the heated seats, they are fantastic. Integrated garage door opener is nice if you have a garage. Of course the crawl and multi terrain select are at the expense of a sunglass holder.

3.) Softex Leather. I love mine so much. Being black with red stitching they get dirty easily but they wipe up easy too. Look better in person than in the pictures.

4.) Autodimming rear view mirror. Best one I have ever seen. Normally I would do without this, but this one is one of the nicest operating autodimmers on the market.

5.) Tonneau cover and sliding tray are ok. Probably great if you are the type to use them much, just take up space if you don't. They tray makes the floor flat on the bright side.

6.) Clean look. The trail is the only model without a trim level indication on the exterior. +1 in my books. The TE wheels I prefer to the SR5 wheels.

7.) The silver bumper trim. Looks out of place to my eye. Looks damn good plastidipped black.

If I were out in NB I would happily take you out for a spin. If you have any other questions I can help you with, feel free to ask.

I'm in Québec, north of Montréal. Too far for you.

My dealer also told me it took 90 days to get a 4Runner and they only order Limited for their stock since this is what they sell most and I guess make more profit.

Beside the new front and some new interior bits for a 2014+, go try a used one in your area. If you like it, then think about it when it's new.
