Any of you go straight to the tire shop when purchashed new?

I went at noon the next day. The tire shop would give nothing for the used tires, so I just sold them here on the buy and sell thread.
What you get from the tire shop for the old tires really depends on your negotiating skills vs their ability and willingness to hide behind company policy. Around where I live, "we don't sell used tires, so we don't give credit for them."

I purchased the truck in another state and had some driving to the same weekend, so mileage was right at 1,000 by the time I got to the tire shop.
$50 ea for the stocker tires, so $200 credit towards new duratracs at Discount Tire.
They price matched Tire Rack also. And there was a $40 rebate. I recall the net cost was about $733 for the new duratracs
Belle Tire would give no credit...
Don't just go to your local shop, call some different ones up.
When you go in and talk price, have a print out of the comparisons of tires you are interested in from Tire Rack. (also it is very instructive to compare the specs of the different tires, such as weight, etc.)

I sold my Trail wheels and tires to the dealer for $1000 and had them take the car to Discount tire to have the new wheels and tires put on. The dealer let me keep the TPMS sensors.
I tried to work with the factory tires for about 1600 miles before I finally gave up. I got 160.00 per tire trade in from Discount Tires. This was due to the fact the knowledgeable rep called Dunlap direct and told them the troubles I was having with their tires. The Dunlap rep authorized a full refund/return on the phone, (Gave the Discount Rep a return autho number and amount) so it did not cost the Discount Tire store anything accept the time to take them off and put on the new ones I bought from them. Good luck and stay safe.

I called around just before the 4 Runner came in. I found an independant dealer that gave me $100,.00 @ tire in trade for the new Michilens I wanted. I kept the same stock tire size but wanted Michliens. The difference in ride and handling was incredible. I drove from the showroom to the dealership per agreement. I also got quotes on the new tires so I knew they were treating well on the new tires.

I got a $75 a piece credit from Discount Tire and they had around 300 miles on them.
As stated,make sure you do your homework on what your next set is so they don't rip you off on them. Decide what tires you want first and bring a printed quote for the tires ,shipping included, from Tirerack or whereever you find them cheapest and they usually price match.

i didn't drive a mile on the Dunflops. dealer split the cost for new Duratracs; ~$400 my cost.

i got $60/tire from Discount tire and they matched tires.com pricing plus BFG had $50 mail in rebate at the time.
