Was in the same boat with OP and went with shrockworks after reading a bunch of threads on them and how reliable the company is, the lead time is long but worth the wait from the quality they are praised about. ordered mine about 3 weeks ago and Mark told me lead time was about 4-8 weeks. i went with the tread plate and textured coating.
Any Reason NOT to get Shrockworks Sliders/TE Rocker trim?

I'm also looking at sliders as a step and for roof access. I'm considering shrockworks and bud built. From a purely aesthetic aspect, I don't want any kind of tread plate. I just want tube sliders and will add grip tape.
Do the BB bump outs protrude further out from the side of the rocker panel than the Shrockworks? Also, do they both have a similar angle upwards when mounted? Really wish these were made in a lightweight high strength aluminum. I'm all for weight savings. Thanks

Recomendation of Installer for Shrockworks Sliders in Dallas
I purchased the Shrockworks sliders with the tread plates, had them powder coated an textured. They came in 2 weeks ago. Last Saturday I tried to install these on my 2016 Limited 4x4 4Runner. I removed the limited trim from both sides, installed the new Shrockworks TE trim and then attempted to put on the passenger side slider. I was able to get the first bolt started at the front of the truck, I then moved to the back and found it was one of those holes with not threads. They did send "Stick Nuts" but I am having so much trouble getting that in there.
I am looking for a place that can do the install for me. I live in Arlington TX, so anything in the DFW area would be fine. I've checked with a couple big name corporate shops but they say they can not do it since they did not sell me the sliders.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

There is an older thread about a DFW Meet and Greet; maybe you can find info about a local Facebook group.
The "local club" forum section is somewhat hidden. You have to back out all the way to the main site (www.toyota-4runner.org) then scroll aaaallllll the way down to the bottom where you find "American T4R Clubs (click to view)".
Coming from someone who just installed their sliders.
I know you're on the passenger side BUT. Stop right now and go buy a longer bolt for top DRIVER's side hole.
Passenger's side will align very easily after you remove the plastic cap in the frame located to the side of the mounting plate.
For Driver's side to align the stick nut, take out the plastic cap that is directly behind the mounting plate. Put the stick nut in there and poke the handle out of the hole on the bottom of the frame. You should be able to finagle it enough to get a longer bolt to bite. You can definitely do it yourself and then sit back and crack a beer while you admire your work.

Good information here. Hoping it won't be too long until mine arrive so I can get them installed.
Just go off the phone with Shrock and they're in welding now and they expect me to have them between 5/6 and 5/20. I ordered them on 3/22 so that's right in line with the expected 6/8 week lead time. I knew that going in and I'll be happy as long as I have them and have time to install them before 6/25.

That's the one. I'm sure I won't need them but I wanted them for several reasons, people getting in and out without ruining the bolsters on the seats being a prime reason. Plus, I'm prone to messing shit up in situations where it shouldn't be possible so the extra protection will help me sleep better at night when I'm learning to wheel my $38k truck!
And they look sooooo damn good!:reddance:

Haha oh, I agree with all of the above, trust me. I've got running boards on right now (because I didn't know the difference between sliders and running boards when I bought them
) and I'm going to be getting rid of them for sliders as soon as I can. I just didn't want you to panic about getting them on before the class.

I love mine, BUT fitment was not perfect. The angled aspects were a few degrees off. On one side I am completely missing a bolt, zero chance it would line up. The other side was similar, but not as badly off. I was grumpy, kept it to myself up until this post.

That's too bad. On the passenger side, you need to drill a 3/8ths hole in the cross member to get a bolt in. Was that where you were missing a bolt?

I have Shrockworks sliders, the ones with the tread, except I had them do full tread for me so when we have little ones there is less concern about them falling inbetween treds. The sliders are tucked close to the sill so not terribly helpful as a step but they do work fine. They are great for getting stuff off the rack

Understanding it usually a lovefest for ShrockWorks I have not mentioned this prior. That said, the product is built fantastic, the QC on my sliders was lacking IMO.
First pic is the driver side, upper bolt no go.
Second pic passenger side, have not drilled hole. But notice how much space is in between the frame and slider.
Not a big deal, the two combined rub me considering the price. Actually, regardless of price, shit should fit as it is intended to in general. End of the day, I am currently down two bolts, one per side. Though, each mount has the other two tightly locked down.

That sucks -- Love fest or not, they should stand by their product and that's not up to snuff, IMO. I'd hope that they would offer to swap at least the passenger side. The driver's side could probably be shaved out a little with a file or drill bit.

I can't recall for some reason and has mud in the pic, I believe that driver side was threaded. But in general yes can be, whatever....moving on until I feel like messing with it again. They are on tight as hell, not much true sliding for me. So good for now.

Same position here as the OP. Waiting on the Metal Tech sliders. Small wife and 5 month old son...need to get a little purchase for ingress. Never ever thought about the factory running boards...they belong on a handicapped carpool van with motorized lift. Buddy of mine had his mom in her early 70s get in with the sliders too, no problem. Hahaha
