Any stock 1st Gen stereos out there?

I'm looking to buy a stock 1st Gen stereo...surely someone has one the want to get rid of for cheap..

If you got one let me know...i'll look at any single DIN decks you have if you have the pocket for installation.

You can buy the pocket at almost any store. I know best buy and walmart have them.

If you want a stock one, i have the one with tape and CD that was stock in my 2004. Dont know if it will fit easily. Used it for maybe a month.

Well I can't get the pocket at my wal-mart, and I'm 2 hours from a best buy. (yes I could buy it online, but I figured I'd try and kill 2 birds with one stone since realistically if someone has a single
DIN 1st Gen deck they should have a pocket as well)


GYoter...that would be SWEET! But I'm looking CHEAP here, dirt cheap. With a soft top I don't want any bait for thieves.

Yes a 4Runner with a soft top...its a 1st Generation w/removable top.

I have no doubt you would be reasonable on it but I'm not looking to spend over $20.

ok, i was thinking more around 100 or so shipped. Oh well. Try ebay, i searched and found some early model toyota radios starting at $.99

Question for you guys...what stock decks will be a match for my 88 Runner?

What years and makes of Toyota will fit perfectly?

I think that all toyota are double din units. There have been some wiring harness changes over the years. I dont think that a newer HU will fit with out doing some wiring work. You could buy an after market HU and buy the wiring harness that would work.
Check at this unit at walmart, however you still need the wiring harness and pocket should add about another $25. bucks

I dont think you are going to find one with everything needed for 25. bucks even if you find a headunit u will still need the wiring harness. You could do it for 50-75.

they had exactly what I needed on ebay the other day (same as mine) that went for $25. I didn't have the money then.

I'm hoping to get something where I can just pull mine and plug the new one in, perfect fit, snap and screw the trim back and I'm good to go. that is as long as the problem IS with my deck and not something else.

I figured since the go on ebay for $25 I would try and pick one up from someone that had one for @ $20, they would save the listing fee from ebay...

So the search continues....... for a First Gen deck...

So does anyone know for sure when wiring harnesses changed? For instance: would I be able to plug a 1992 Tacoma or Camry radio into my 1988 4Runner and be good to go? My question not only deals with wiring harnesses but with the size and mount of the decks as well....anyone know for sure?
