I have the 2003 Limited with the JBL sound system. It has the disc changer but no jack to play my MP3 player. I looked at a couple at Best Buy, one would create a round jack so it would come from the earphone jack of the MP3 player and this is what I have in my other cars. But the one at Best Buy actually uses the antenae so it would be coming in like a radio signal.

They also have one that would hook directly up to the other jack on the MP3 player like is was hooked into the USB port on a computer. I don't think I want the radio signal one, but the other one is more expensive.

Just wondering what others have done.

a new radio will only cost u 2.5x more ,if not less than what ur going to pay them for the adapter and install. have u consider a new radio with the same features? why do everyone think that a new radio is not worth it? sure it cost more upfront, but in the long run it pays off, thats my opinion.

If you REALLY like the stock radio for some reason, you could add a parrot bluetooth module like the 9200 and I beleive it has the aux input as well as streaming music from your phone and hands-free phone calls.

If you have no attachment to the radio, go with a nice aftermarket radio with bluetooth and everything built-in. it's worth it.

Find a scion radio and put in there. they come with a usb hook up and they sound way better than the toyota radio. you can even find the scion radios with rca pre outs for an amp

I have always wondered about this. I get mechanical things. I can teardown and rebuild a tranny or engine, but I have a question about the JBL audio system.


I have a JBL 6 disk player system with 10 speakers, which I believe comes with an amp wired in somewhere. I want to add an audio in port. Can I do the SCION swap? I thought I read somewhere that my speaker config, with the amp, makes this tricky?

If you just want to add an MP3 player such as an iPod this is all you need. It keeps all steering wheel controls, etc. I use one in my JBL and it's flawless and cheap enough.
