Any upcoming GOBI group buy??

I am in the market for a roof rack for my 4runner. Really like the GOBI but it is a bit pricey. Just wondering if there are any upcoming group buys for GOBI racks?

I emailed GOBI 2 weeks ago and still no reply from them. I highly doubt I will get one.

Whats the best way to order a rack from them??

Yeah I highly doubt it too!

Contact either [MENTION=68685]Ducmonsta[/MENTION] or [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] they are both Gobi distributors. Be prepared to wait 12 weeks +/- for a rack, longer if you have any custom requests, though IMO it's worth the wait.

I am out of town this week (getting some spring riding in Lake Tahoe). I can check with Sandra when I get back in town on Monday.

I think most people have been happy with [MENTION=78318]RiDE[/MENTION] and his service. It's the lack of communication with gobi that's the issue. Then customers end up bugging gobi directly. So instead of just getting emails and phone calls from people like me and ride, they get them from dozens of other customers.

Yeah I wanted one with rigid led mounts but I think that extends the time to 8 weeks or so. I might just get an unmodified one to get it sooner.

Do I pay a percentage to place an order and than full payment is charged to my cc once shipped? Please let me know!

1. Is the cost increase over a Thule M.O.A.B. or Yakima Load Warrior worth it?

From my experience, the ladder would be worth it if you're getting the gobi. When loading anything heavy or awkward on your roof, it's nice to be able to stand on the rack itself and have easy access to the rooftop. It's hard to load anything while standing on the wheel or doorway. Even if you're just putting stuff in your roof box, it'd be nice to be able to stand on the roof.

The price difference depends on your needs and priorities and aesthetics. I prefer the looks of the Gobi over any others...so far.
