Anybody running 285 Cooper ATP's?

Found one post with pics of a limited on 285/70/17 on stock suspension with no rub.

Any members running a set of these on a lifted suspension? Pics? I've read that these ATP's are actually a bit smaller compared to other 285 a/t's.

I've been running them and I absolutely love them. Great on road and great offroad even in the wet rain or snow. I feel these ATPs actually run bigger than most 285s IMO.

Okay. They are a great buy, actually cheaper than the stock sized tires. I'm gonna go with them but probably will have to crank up the bilsteins to 2.5" and do the fender mod to fit them.

I have about 15,000 miles on mine. Yes, they will rub with no lift. I couldn't even get backed out of Discount Tire without turning every head in the place.

They will probably rub with a lift. I have a Toytec Ultimate and Camburg UCAs. You will need to push the fender liner forward and probably remove the front mud flaps. And get a proper alignment. They shouldn't rub after that.

Some of this will depend on the exact wheel you choose. I'm on a 17x8 -10 offset. This is IIRC a 4.5" backspace or slightly more than the factory 20" Limited wheels (on mobile and hard to confirm this for you so double check).

All that being said, they're a great tire in everything but mud. They suck in mud. But they're not built for that and I don't have to deal with it very often at all. Otherwise I really really do like them. I'll probably end up with these for DD and mild stuff then a second set of beater wheels with something aggressive or crawling specific. I have pics and can post them later if you're interested.

Thanks for the informative post and the visual! Your wheels are the exact ones I will be buying, the MK6 17x8 ET-10. With just my slight lift at 1.74"(might have to bump up to 2.5"F) and the fender forward mod, I hope they won't rub on the uca's.

When you originally had these tires installed, pre-lift, was there any rubbing on your factory uca's?

No worries! Factory UCAs were good to go. However, I only ran these wheels and tires for a week (like 5 days) before the lift went on. I did the UCAs at the same time as the lift so don't have any lifted with factory UCA info for you.

lol did you even air down? if you did, it would have done a lot better, mine have done great in mud, even muddy snow

Actually yes. They are sitting at 17 psi in that photo. My set is E rated due to all the rock here in central Texas. They don't really deform much until they're actually on an obstacle. They're like freaking Velcro when it's dry (which is 99% of the time).

EDIT: In the pic you can clearly see the tread pattern complete clogged.

All depends on what type of mud I suppose. For the stuff we have they're no good and I stand by that. They get too gummed up and don't clear leaving no tread for traction. More aggressive AT tires like Duratracs do *much* better here. That will be different that what's in DFW, the panhandle, East Texas or the wide variety on the coast.

Like any other purchase, do your research. Figure out what you like to do and find out what other people use that do the same thing. There is no such thing as a perfect tire, just tires that compromise in areas you don't care about.

I have them. Have had not a problem with them. They run well in everything I've thrown at them. I got them because price, they have a hell of a warranty, and I drive on concrete most of the time.

Many mods since these two pics. But the tires really show no wear.

Fattire said they are bad in the mud. I got in and out of a mud hole, and back across once everyone decided most won't make it, that had two FJ's stuck.
