Anyone buy a 4runner and leave behind small car?

Sold my 07 WRX Limited wagon for my 4Runner. Not gonna lie- I really miss it. I really like my runner, but in a different way. The Subie was way better in the snow (esp. with snow tires), fuel costs are about the same (the wrx got slightly better mileage, but took premium, so it's a wash). I like the space and versatility, but miss the handling and speed.

I paid off my Mazda 6 and 3 months later used it as a trade in on the 4Runner.

The Mazda just wasn't the optimal vehicle for what I do. Lots of fire roads, forest roads, rock trails, mud, etc...the car hated me. I gained everything except gas mileage...

Pending on the 4runner you get will determine how much fun you can have. Mines a V6 5 speed, running OME coils in the back which are very stiff and i have some nice shocks front and rear with all the sway bars attached, now its no race car but its not boring in corners, feels more like a hatchback than an suv too me, but then again i have a stiff setup with the 5 speed that i know how to properly downshift as 2nd nature, when i first got it i hated it because the suspension was shot and i was used to a completely different car. I love this truck, and at least IMO the manual 3rd gen is the best SUV all compromises considered.

Left behind my 03 Mach 1. Biggest change for me was the lack of power and sound. My Mach had one chamber mufflers you could hear for miles.

This was my last one. It takes some getting used. Forget the fun things like high speed on ramps but you begin to enjoy the 4runner in different ways.

I sold my 04 rsx for my 5th gen. Was getting tired of scraping frame and bumpers, went the complete opposite and love my rig!

I drove a Mazda Protege5 wagon for over 10 years before I got the 4runner. One thing I'm sure of is that rear-view camera has gotten me into more than one parking spot that I thought I'd never fit into.
The 4runner really isn't THAT big.

That said, I ain't getting rid of my sports/track car anytime soon. I like cornering too much and the 4runner will never feed that addiction.

The shaggin' wagon. It went almost 11 years of doghair, spilled food, surfwax, SAND, forgotten oil changes, etc. The day I traded it in, I thought to myself how cool of a little car it still was. Bulletproof, glutton for punishment, etc. The 4runner has some shoes to fill.

I am very close to buying a 4 runner. I have driven a G35 6 spd coupe for the last 6 years. Has anyone left something similar for the 4runner? I am wondering if in a few weeks I will want the little car feel again?

Mp, congratulations on the 4runner! My guess is that you'll have moments where you're gonna miss the handling and acceleration of your little G. But all the pros of the 4runner will help you get through your withdrawal. Taking your 4runner off road and crawling over some rocks will also help. It'll also start a new addiction.

I am too attached to my other toy to let it go...So I kept it.

But we did recently let the R1 go...

Went from driving American Muscle cars for 15 years to my 2010 4Runner. (85' IROC, 96' Z28, 02 TranAm Firehawk)

Big change, miss the power and exhaust note occasionally.

But, I am extremely happy with 4Runner, zero regrets. It was time to move on and glad I did.

I went to my 4runner from a '99 Camaro Z28, not really a small car but a car nonetheless. I actually just got an Infiniti FX35, after considering a G35 coupe.

You'll get used to it no problem. I don't think the size is much to get used to, it's an easy SUV to drive and simple(r) controls than the Infiniti. The height isn't too crazy either. I don't think you'll have any problem, but don't expect much power wise. Take it for what it is, it's an SUV. I always felt a little weird getting in my 4R after a day of driving the Vette.
