Anyone do brakes yet on their 5th Gen?

No inspections like that in MD We have 2 year inspections but all the do is plug in, scan for codes, send you out the door. Literally takes about 5 minutes and you're done. Now when I lived in NY we had inspections same as PA has so I get what you're talking about and honestly I think it's a good thing. The way MD does it is not good, allows for unsafe vehicles to be on the road and people may have no idea the issue is even there.

Va does an annual inspection. But MDs I dont get. We do the emissions test, and that isnt even state wide. Apparently the eastern shore people dont do it like us "western shore" people do. I have looked a few older T4rs that should not have been on the road. 2 were obviously rolled in an accident. A few were in such a bad accident you could see the large waves in the roof line. Those should never have been back on the road.

I agree with you 100% The inspections can be a pain but they alert people of issues they may not have been aware of. When I moved here from NY I had to have my vehicles inspected. MD does an inspection and passes them for registration, this is a complete safety inspection. After that, there is no safety inspection to speak of. I won't be here much longer thankfully, we'll see what kind of inspection NC requires once I get down there.

My first 2 experiences with koons in Annapolis wasnt good. I got very loud. I havent had an issue since. They claimed my TRD brake pads were bad at 14000 miles. They also try to tell me cause it's all time 4wd I needed to change transfer case oil at 40k. Cant cover cause it 2000 past the limit. Then try to charge me for pads and rotors. I kept getting the "warpped" feeling from the brake dust build up.

So I said the hell with stock brakes (besides I was about to add some #s to my runner. Went to amazon ordered Powerstop rotors and pads. So far at 20k on the rotors and pads. Not even close to wearing them out. I stop faster even with the 200#s I have added to it so far.

Stealerships suck. I took my 2005 Honda in for the airbag recall at 120K miles. They told me that my timing belt needed to be replaced. It has a timing chain. They told me that my rear brake pads needed to be replace. I had just replaced the rotors and the pads had plenty of wear left. Still going at 144K miles. I will check and possibly replace at 150K.

You should change the transfer case fluid at 40K, that wasn't a lie. Should be servicing both diffs also. As far as pads being bad, they've been known for going 80-100K miles, that's BS.
