Here is a cpl of sugesstions. I have a 3rd gen and have used mine for the last 3yrs for hunting and camping.
1) Go to NH Northern or similar (across USA) and get a hitch haul that is not a "bolt together" Mine sits in the reciever and has a 8" 90 degree rise for the solid 1 peice shelf this sits at bumper level and allows for better clearence.
2) Get a memory foam (full size) 2-4" topper and use that to sleep on (remove rear seats) I have slept either way.
3) Get some netting/screen material and cut it to fit the outside of your rear side windows and use magnets (hot glue) to hold it to your truck. Setup a battery powered fan and it circulates the air without the bugs.
4) Get a good mag lite (I use a 4D) and mount it in your truck somewhere. I mounted mine to the storage compartment door in the rear.
5) This should have been #1 get a first aid kit. I ran across a deal at a local outlet store and got a first responder/automotive repair backpack it has everything including food

barf

and water pouches.
6) Ratchet straps
7) Ammo can (military surplus preferred)
8) Weathertech or similiar floor mats
9) Seat covers (WetOkole are recommended) I do not have these yet.
10) Suspension lift and tires (on the list for me)
11) Exterior lights
12) Tow straps and or recovery straps.
13) Go to a junkyard and replace/add the tow hook so you have 2 in front. I kept the factory "D" ring so both sides have the hook and ring.
14) Armor is always recommended (ARB etc...bumper, sliders, etc...)
15) 1/2/3rd Gen exhoust is already pointed to the side.
