anyone ever bend BudBuilt regular sliders?

has anyone here ever bent or dented the regular BudBuilt sliders? Are the .120 regular version DOM tubing as well. Thanks!

I bought a set of used standard bump outs that were dented from use. I didn't keep them long enough to test myself.

Before I ordered mine I asked Bud if I should go with the regular or beefy sliders. He told me unless I planned on landing the full weight of the truck on the sliders then the regular ones would be fine. I've had mine for a few years now and they aren't bent or even dented. I use them a little bit.

I've built a hand full of all round tube sliders like theirs on custom jobs and even on my own truck a couple times. If you beat on them they will certainly dent, even using .134 wall, but I've never seen them bend completely.

I had Bud's normal ones on my FJ. Used them for 3+ year wheeling all over Colorado. I came down on a rock really hard once and put about a quarter size dent in the drivers side slider. When I got out to check if there was any damage I was really surprised that was all the damage I suffered. I hit the rock so hard I was worried about my door not opening.
When I originally ordered them from Bud I asked if it was worth getting the beefier ones and Bud told me he made the heavy duty ones for "people that could break a rubber ball in a padded cell".
I would be surprised if you needed more than the normal ones.

There very tough but if you go places that in reality shouldn't be you can damage them.

thanks for the replies...this helps influence my decision a bit. Now to shift the topic slightly. Many of the install threads for BudBuilt sliders mention 1 or more holes not lining up properly. Is this true for everyone or only some installs? Roughly how many bolts are holding the slider on each side?

I believe my drivers side had 1-2 more bolts than passenger. You are correct, not all the bolts line up, but there are plenty in place to keep it secure. You could always drill if you wanted, but I have no idea if that would affect the integrity of the slider's strength under pressure - probably negligible for 1-2 bolts?

This is common for aftermarket parts. Cars are built to a tolerance and not to exact specs so there will be a little difference from one car to the next. Just means you typically will need to wallow a few holes to get everything bolted up.

My Shorckworks sliders have considerably fewer bolts than the BudBuilts do. I was initially worried about this but when jacking the truck up by the slider it doesn't deflect at all. Hard to say if it would make a difference with the vehicle landing on the slider after a fall. I would be trusting enough to only use the holes that match up on the BBs.

installed mine yesterday. 12 on the DS, 9 on the PS. More cuts in the slider mounting plate than there are nutserts.
