Anyone gone with an Old Man Emu OME lift?

Here is a before (only one I have, sorry) and after from my phone. I will get some more and hopefully of a comparison with a twin at my gym.

Wow, definitely sits high with those heavy duty coils. looks good.
Are you planning to run a lot of aftermarket weight? why the heavy load coils?

Not planning on going crazy with a heavy load but will definitely be adding a Gobi rack on top and am considering the storage drawers in the back. Might be a little over kill for the heavy coils, but I like a stiffer ride, especially with no dive while braking. The tech I spoke with at the shop recommended the stiff as far as ride and he was running heavies on his Tacoma, so not a ton of weight, and said he hadnt expirenced and major problems.

And as far as the apparent sag in front, that was user error...I didn't get the spacer put in so that's why it still doesn't look level. I am sometimes a little dumb, but will get that corrected on the next time in. [Point and laugh]

Lift looks great......I'd be curious to know if the ride is what you want, and if you took a hit in gas mileage.

I' would definitely put the heavier springs, between goodies and towing, it seems only logical.

OME 3" Lift

I had the stiffest spring rate on mine and couldnt come to terms with the 2" rake. I just installed my Gobi and also went to a medium spring rate on the rear. The stiff spring is as if you are constantly running a 450lb load all the time, medium is 225lb load. (Per ARB Renton, Wa) I kept the front stiff and love the ride. Still has a slight rake but it will probably settle in a little more. Here is a pic.

Looks good! Did your shop charge you for the swap? I have a pretty good feeling mine will so I would rather spend the money on goodies and then work on switching the stiffness then turning around and spending to just fix one little thing. Maybe I will just start towing my boat permanently to help even it out, at least people will think I'm going somewhere...might get weird in the snow or in the work parking lot though.

How do you like your Gobi so far?

My cost for parts (springs and shocks) was around $750 shipped, $740 labor with alignment.
As a side note, my alignment was almost 2 hours.

The alignment specs that we settled on were:

Camber is 0.1 both sides, Caster is 1.9 / 2.0 (wanted more just not any adjustment left) and toe is .03 / .04 (total toe .07). I can see UCA's helping the Caster but the ride is good so I will hold off for a while doing anything else...

And that is the main reason I haven't done it yet. LOL Add that to new rims and tires, and I'll drop 3G in a hurry.

Yup, damn close to 3G when you add $1150 more for rims/tires/mount-balance, BUT you get one BadA$$ looking ride. I can't stop walking out and looking at it. You will see what I mean TD when you pull the trigger! Have not driven my other 2 cars since!!!! Starting to feel a little guilty!:thumb3:

Yep

I'm guessing that's just labor? What did you pay for parts? Mine was $1500 total, $790 parts, $450 labor, $100 alignment.

Yes just labor... parts where around $750-$800 from 4wheel parts. That's including rear rock guards and front spacers. Wednesday if going to be an exciting day. Will post pictures. CANT WAIT for the install!

This is interesting, thanks for sharing. ARB swore on their build of the 5th Gen that changing factory UCA's are not a necessity with their OME lift. Please left me know if you do? :thumb3:

I saw the adjustments done in person and how there was no more left for caster. We sacrificed some camber (still in spec) to get the caster I have. I now KNOW it is impossible to get within Toyota specs with a 3 inch spring lift without using aftermarket UCA's.

A spacer kit may be a different story. Guys that have that setup would need to chime in...

Now does that mean you can't still get a good ride without them? No, mine is good. I should not have any odd tire wear either which is my main concern really.
I am just wondering how much better it could be!!! Others have comments posted it is better with new UCA's so in a while I will be diving in! It's only money...

Bottom line is IF you want to be in spec (per Toyota), you MUST have some type of aftermarket UCA's (or bushings if someone designs them) with a 3" spring lift. Is it needed??? That's up to you!
Let us know what your alignment specs were when your install is complete. Good luck!!!!

Good points there... Will post details and images when the install is done. So your basically advising/telling me to spend more money on the install... Because I'm always curious as to "could it be better?". This forum is making me broke... but I love it!

Done! The ride is very nice, not harsh and not floaty (is that a word?).
Very happy I went with the springs and shocks.

Very soon I'm going to add 884 & 885 springs; however, I was just checkin' out your n-Fab steps, which look great, and was wondering if you had any issues installing them. When I went to the n-Fab website, they had them listed for the Trail Edition only.

According to OME both of these are suppose to be 3"????

They look radically different.
