Anyone gone with an Old Man Emu OME lift?

According to OME both of these are suppose to be 3"????

They look radically different.

Not the same spring. The gray one is a 895e, not sure on the white but I assume its an 897.

895e is about 1.75" and not 3", not listed for the 5th gen.

895e - 375mm
895. - 390mm
897. - 400mm (this is what's listed for the 5th gen)

the 895e are listed for FJ's as a 2" rear lift and for the 2003-09 4th gen as a 1" lift, but it seems to yield about 1.75" on the 5th gen.

Well, that explains it. Thanks. Is that what you are running as well? Any issoes with it? I mean if its fine for us why does not ARB list it?

And...if I can do 895E in the rear should I go 884 or 885 on the front? My only plan on front would be a Budbuilt Winch plate and a WARN M8000S which they say is only 55 lbs so I'm wondering if I should do 884 instead of 885.

And...and....any reviews of their Nitrocharger short shocks? From what I understand they are new.

From the Tech Supervisor at ARB:

Looking at the numbers the OME895E should give about 30-40mm (1.18-1.57") lift over stock with the OME895 up around 55-60mm (2.17-2.36") and the OME889 about 70-75mm (2.76-2.96"). Any of the above coils will work in the rear of your 4runner, just the lift heights will vary.

Note - Convert to inches done by me not ARB.

So for me it looks like 895E for the rears and 885 for the front. Sound about right?

A couple guys on here have used 895e's and got closer to 1.75", I think his name (other than that gray one you posted) was firefighteremt or something like that.

More from ARB:

2885 would be what I would recommend. That combo should give a nice level stance. With your setup I would expect about 45-50mm (1.77-1.97") of lift up front. The new 4Runners are really low from the factory so they gain more height than the older ones did with the same coils.

Can we get a update of those who went with OME. What coils did you use. Shocks? Pics? How are you liking it? What would you change?

This is next on my list but trying to find useful info on the 5th Gen is proving to be a bit frustrating. Some love it. Others think the ride is too harsh. Others experience lifts much higher than expected.

i am going to lift this spring/summer and have garage height restrictions so the unpredictability of the amount of lift people seem to be getting with OME has me considering other setups more seriously.

I run eibach springs on bilsteins 5100 (stock level) in the front and 895e with bilsteins 5100 in the rear. Heightwise, the eibach's fall between the 884 and 885, but the eibach's are 620 lb/in instead of 580-590 lb/in of the OMEs.

I'm on 265/70's and my front fender sits at 37" while my rear sits at 39". I was hoping the 895e's would provide less lift than they did, but they added an EASY 2 inches.

The ride is awesome. Not stiff, just swallows bumps... I really like it. I do not have UCAs. My alignment (Toyota) came within spec. My caster is at 3 on each side and the camber at -.1, toe right around zero.

I got the heavies on front and back and I partially regret it. I am not gonna be putting any substantial weight on the rear anytime soon and I feel like im maxing out on bumps in the rear. I do however still like them up front, it rides great. I would highly recommend doing mediums in the back and heavies up front.

Here's a side shot but not totally level. The front does actually sit just a tad shorter. I will work on getting a picture tomorrow at work (if I remember).

I ended up going with the OME 884's in front and toytec's superflex coils in the rear with OME nitrocharger shocks all around.

I find the ride noticeably harsher. Going over a rough surface you really feel it, but then large obstacles like a potholes are absorbed much more smoothly. I'm very happy with the height, and it sits nice and level. I might consider looking for something else with a bit more compliant ride down the road when i could justify spending the money again...

The Stiff Front Is Great, Medium Rear Ride Hight and Ride Quality is Perfect. I have 20k on this suspension and it is Stellar! Excellent price too...I started with the Stiff Rear and Swapped them out with the Medium. I could not come to terms with the Mega Rake.

Did your installer charge you labor a second time for the swap or did you di it within their "satisfaction guaranteed" period? I was thinking about going back to ask if they would do the swap and give my heavies to someone who wanted them and I would take some mediums. I don't plan on a bumper for a while and im tired of the major slap in the back every time.
