Anyone Have A Secondary Vehicle?

Ive been blessed, i have a secondary and a tertiary

I purchased my '14 Runner to be the DD back in Dec '14

it replaced my DD, which is now my help-out vehicle, '03 F-150 w/ 140k miles and in perfect running condition at the moment.

but in the spring, summer, and early fall, both get used much less while i enjoy DDing my '09 Kawasaki Concours 1400...a venerable hot-knife thru butter when it comes to getting thru commuter traffic.

primary, 1994 Supra Turbo (My primary vehicle is not fuel efficient by any means, but its fast and beats a comatose driving experience. 20mpg if you drive it like a normal person.)

secondary, 1999 4Runner (was my DD for several years, now mainly used for people, trips, and moving big stuff)

tertiary, 1987 4Runner (DD duty every now and then, mainly when the above two are disabled, like right now)

quaternary, 1989 Supra turbo (sits in the garage day after day, driven once or twice a month)

DD an '04 Corolla with 235,000 miles on the clock, and counting. We average over 35 mpg. Up until my newborn son, the wifey and I were still driving it from Phoenix to LA to visit family. Sure the Corolla makes some funky noises sometime and isn't the prettiest, but I can't complain about a sub $25 fill up that easily takes me over 350 miles per tank. :thumb:

4R is secondary.

My primary is a 2017 Ford Fusion provided by the company I work for. The 4runner is a secondary vehicle soon to be 3rd once we pick up our Subaru Outback.

I have an '01 civic LX that was mine and the wife's primary vehicle up until we got our 4R. Now it's just a work vehicle to get me to and from. We also have a '95 mustang we are trying to get rid of, which hopefully will come soon!

that would be awesome! We're looking at the 2017 Outbacks since they're marked down quite a bit. Hopefully they accept the $500 off as that would practically pay for the registration.

They have to. The coupon is from subaru of America(SOA). The dealership takes it and then they get reimbursed by SOA. Have already had several friends and family members use one. Just make sure you settle on a final price and then play the oops forgot about this deal to sweeten the pot. They are only good for a week from when I email it to you so let me know when you plan on going and I can get it sent out!

Edit: I guess I should note I am in no way affiliated with Subaru(obvious since I drove a Toyota now). I jusy like their vehicles and have a relationship with SOA so I can help others get into them.

This has been my baby since she had 2 miles on her 12 yrs ago. I will not part with her and I have no regrets about the purchase. I would have preferred the manual over the AT, but time was of the essence and one was not available in the surrounding 6 dealerships. Still my daily driver. Never been in the shop for any mechanical reason.

4runner is my secondary.
primary is a 2007 bmw 530xi. good gas mileage but more car than i need.

also have a 1998 bmw 328i. hasn't been plated or drove out of my cul de sac in 3 years. super fun car to drive. very good gas mileage. i cannot get my kid to get his license and get it out of my garage!

I'm at 192K and my friend with the same year is at 212K. I expect to get equal mileage out of the Scion and the 4Runner and both will be over 300K miles. The xB is my tank!!!

2005 4runner Sport V8 is my DD since I bought it new. When my oldest daughter starts driving sometime next year, then my Cement TRD Pro becomes my DD hopefully for the next 10+ years.

I would check carcomplaints.com and the NHTSA complaints and listed recalls. This will let you see trends. Don't forget to shop other areas within a day's drive. Prices can vary from market to market.

carcomplaints.com was a HUGE help when I was thinking about buying my new SUV.
I wanted a 4R, but wasn't finding any decent ones in my area.
I learned a lot about what to NOT buy.
(and eventually found my current 4R)

My "secondary" vehicle will be my late mother-in-law's Ford Windstar, but only because it's a great deal, and my wife wants it for sentimental reasons.
I have a friend who has a Mazda and loves it.
My daughter just bought a Mitsubishi and loves it.
