Anyone have a stock jbl stereo I can borrow in so cal? I just put a pioneer avh-p4400bh and the volume is a little low and I've heard on the forum that I need to adjust the stock stereo volume up higher and then shutoff.

The problem is I don't have a stock jbl head unit, I had some pioneer single din.

I have a 2003 limited with JBL. I could pay for shipping also if it's not too high?

I'm assuming you are using the PAC TATO adapter to interface your Pioneer with the JBL Amplifier? Have you been through the procedure to adjust the gains on the TATO?

Ohp, yes, set the gains high to start. Will take everything apart soon once I get the new faceplate.

To the OP: Did you have any luck with this? I just had a Pioneer AVH-X2500BT installed & the output from the stock speakers is pretty weak....MUCH weaker than what it was with the stock head unit.

I need to find out from the shop on what adapter they used, & if they set the gain to max.

Techsan, nobody has offered up a radio to borrow? I'd even buy one for the right price just so I could increase the volume before unplugging the unit.

I'm bringing mine into the shop that installed it today...I'll let you know the outcome. I might be able to hook you up though.

Found the problems...first off, when he plugged the factory unit in, the fade was set to F1. Not that it made THAT much of a difference. Second, the gain on the Metra adapter was only set halfway...he adjusted it to about 80% & it made a TON of difference than before. The Pioneer def sounds better than the stock head unit...especially since you have a ton of ways to adjust the EQ.
