The main reason why I chose Bajarack over Gobi was because of all the delays Gobi has been giving everyone. I was able to pick up my rack from Baja exactly one week after I ordered it.
Anyone have closeup pics of Baja Rack Mounting Plates??

Yes i'm looking at Baja but i'm undecided right now. Either the long version of the rack seen here or the rack that Brock has.
Ya it's too bad really, they make a nice product but seem to be of the opinion that "we're the best you will wait for us" Well I'm not waiting anymore and they just lost a $1400 order and any recommendation I might have. Actually I will have recommendations but that will be to not buy from Gobi. Oh well :shrug:

Qjake... Did you ever get your rack situation resolved? I am about to put an order in for Gobi but, not sure if I should switch to baja.

Figured I might as well update everyone on my bent rack from Baja. For those that don't know, I had a BajaRack Utility rack on my truck since June of 2011. While I was at the Summit in CO, Sergio saw my rack and told me it was bent. I knew it was bent, but I thought it was part of the design as it slopes up toward the front of the truck. Apparently it's not part of the design, and Sergio mentioned that they had "some trouble" with the first five of these racks they ever made (mine was the 2nd). Fast forward to end of August, and Ducmonsta received the new rack at his shop. Since I'm a cheapskate, I didn't want to pay Ducmonsta to install it (actually, I thought about it for a minute because I was feeling really lazy that day, but the look Ducmonsta gave me indicated that he didn't think it was a particularly good idea for me to pay him either), so Ducmonsta was nice enough to let me use his ladder and a semi-shaded spot in his parking lot to put the rack on myself!
A bit later, I had my rack off and all of the new hardware in place, and the new rack sitting in place. I found that the front supports they sent me were too short, and the front of the rack was sitting on the front (near the windshield) of my roof. In the photos below, you can see the old mounts in place with the "new" mounts behind them. Quite a difference in height!
I consulted Ducmonsta, and he seemed to be in agreement that with the old legs installed (which allowed for clearance of the rack in front near the windshield) the rack still looked a bit bent. Ducmonsta went inside and grabbed a few 1/8" spacers for me to use on the center rack mounts. I put those in place, and it still seems a bit bent... what do you guys think? Are my eyes playing tricks on me or what?
I sent all this and a similar narrative to Sergio, and they had a meeting about it on Friday. But, I haven't heard back from them yet. It seems to me that the four rear (bolted-in) supports are about 1/8" too short to match-up with the front supports. If the front support were any shorter the rack would be hitting the roof because there's about 8mm of clearance there now.
I'm definitely not complaining about anything here. More than happy with the rack, but I wanted to get some more eyes on the thing to see if it's really bent or just the way I'm looking at it. Sergio and his guys have been nothing short of awesome for this whole thing, and I wouldn't even have a new rack to post about here if it weren't for them... I'd still be driving around with my super bent rack not knowing any better. You know a company is good when they ship you a brand new rack over a year after you purchased the first one and pay to have the old rack shipped back because they don't want it riding around with their name on it. No matter what, these guys have my business from here on out.

^^ Limamike, I agree with your observations, it definitely looks to have a bro lean to it (nose high) but to my eye seems to be more than 1/8". Put a long straight edge on it that's as long as the rack and then measure the gap at its largest point then maybe the good peeps at Baja can make up some spacers for the 4 rear brackets.

Yes I did, my Gobi order was shipped complete soon after I asked for a refund.
Whether you should switch depends on how long you are willing to wait for your rack. If you read through the Gobi group buy thread, which says 4 weeks, you'll see most wait 10-12 weeks or longer but I will say that you won't be disappointed with the Gobi its high quality!

Agreed on the straight edge, but finding something that is known to be straight at that length is pretty hard... I think I'm going to take some pictures from my tripod on using a level and the built-in artificial horizon of the camera then use some digital straight edge to see what it really is.
When I look at just the rack it looks bent. But, when I look at the rack and then back at the roof it looks straight.

It looks like you have the brackets tightened down already. There is some play in all the bolt holes to allow for some adjustment or mismatch .As a rule of thumb when installing something with multiple holes(racks,skid plates ,bumpers,winch plates,ect.) that need to line up ......leave all the bolts loose until you have them all in the holes and at least a few threads started.
Have them send you new brackets. But ,on mine I used a couple of thick washers on top of those front brackets to shim it down so it made better contact with the roof.I have about 5mm clearance up front on the spoiler.
