anyone have Old Man Emu on first gen with 31x10.5 pics?

:first:
I have an OME lift on my 87 with 31X10.5X15 tires and stock 15X6 rims. What exact measurement do you want? I'll measure mine for you.

Im looking for top of rim to fender and fender to ground i suppose. I have the same size wheel/tire as you so this will be pretty helpful. Thank you

Top of rim to outside fender is 13 inches. Fender to ground is 35.5 inches. The tires are brand new Goodyear Wranglers at 35 psi. Hope this helps.

I'm attempting to fit 37's (with trimming of course) on my 85 with the Old Man Emu kit... will let you guys know how it goes. They make quality stuff.

Rim to fender distance is actually 15 inches. Ground to fender is 37.5 inches

I have re-measured mine and realized I was mistaken.. even with the ball joint spacer in the front, the rear is actually 5 inches taller in the rear than the front. not 3 inches like I thought.

15" in the rear? That is definitely high. 15" in the front would be 1.5" above stock for IFS.

If you mean 15" in the rear from rim to fender then you are correct, as the rear usually has 11" on stock springs, on a level surface, unloaded with the hardtop on (and with a stock front).

Are you unhappy? You can go a few ways: You can pull a leaf from the EMU leaf packs, or you can crank another 1" out of the ball joint spacer setup by adjusting your torsion bars. Consider spending $20 on a diff drop kit, it will keep your CVs in line if you decide to increase the pre-load on the bars.

Keep us up to date so we can help you with what you decide to do. Don't sweat it.

Any input from those that run ONLY the full OME kit with no BJ spacer? I dont like the "trimming" required for spacers and would like to just use the torsion bars to adjust the front. Reading every thread related gives you everything from it will jolt your teeth out to "rides like a truck should" to " the only way is SAS" and so on....

The OME kit lifts the rear quite high, since the rear is supposed to measure 2" lower than the front when measurijg from top of wheel to fender lip. Torsion bar cranks realistically can only provide a good resuts when lifting no more than half an inch. Half an inch is a larger difference that one may think when trying to give a level apearance. On a 15" wheel you should have a stock measurement from top of rim to fender lip above it at 13.5" Stock. Adjusting up to 14" will still allow about 1.5" of droop travel before the upper control arm contacts the droop stop bumper. You wont compromise anything with a half an inch adjustment. Those who try to adjust 2" of lift literally ride their bump stops lol.

Yes the rear is 15 inches from the wheel lip to the fender well.
The front is only 14 .5 from the wheel lip to the fender well

So basically it's like driving an old wanna be hot rod that's jacked up in the rear end. The headlights Point way down to low at the ground for driving at night. The steering is absolutely atrocious. it walks & wonders all over the place on our horribly deep W'ed Roads... ((does much better on the very few really nice roads). Have to park on a hill to check the oil. And all of the other BS that goes along with having a retarded rraked vehicle.

Haha just pull one leaf from each leaf pack I guess.

14.5" in the front WITH the ball joint spacers? Seems low.

Subscribed to this. My kit is sitting in the shed waiting to be put on. Also need to overhaul the entire front IFS. It's going to take longer for me to post a reply on this thread.

looking at this kit. I do not want the rake to be ridiculous, right now with my zuk I run 13.5" in the rear on stock tires/rims. i like the look at that height
