Anyone have success on removing scratches on silver 4R?

Has anyone had any success with any product in removing hairline surface scratches on your 4R? I'm interested in purchasing a 2008 4R that is silver and it has some hairline scratches on it (seems like someone took it through the woods or something like that). It appears that these scratches would come off with some buffing. Are there any good scratch remover products out there that work really well?

I have had luck with my silver '03 using Meguiar's products. I have used their "Scratch X" and some of their "Ultimate Compound" too. If the scratches are too much for you to buff out you can go to a detail shop and just have them polish it out.
3M makes some great products too.

You may want to invest in an orbital polisher. Probably the same price as one time detailing cost. I use mine all the time for waxing and polishing. The orbital polisher with the right compounds usually get most scratches out. Always start with the least abrasive compound and go more aggressive only if you have too. Get the scratches out and then work your way back to a good shine with finer polish/wax. When I was researching polishers, most people recommended the Porter Cable. I got mine new off Ebay and have been very happy with it.

Rather than investing in an orbital polisher, would one of those polishing pads that you can put on a drill work? I'm wondering if I can accomplish the same thing or if I need to bite the bullet and buy an orbital polisher. I do have quite a few scratches so maybe the investment is worth it.

I have used Meguairs ScratchX quite a few times on my Runner and it has worked great. I have to use it behind my door handles because every woman in my family decides to scrap the car when they open the door I guess.

Do you know which model Porter Cable you have? I'm thinking about making the investment rather than bring it to a detailer. That way, I will be able to use it whenever I need to.

Get a Porter Cable 7424x and go to town with a variety of pads using Meguiars M105/205.
