Anyone in a 5th gen shave their seat foam?

I'm desperate for just a little more head room. And the seat feels like I'm sitting on a pillow. I'd like to sink more into the seat as well.

I've found a lot of write-ups for other cars and it looks pretty easy, without messing up the appearance of the seat.

The PASSENGER side is $110, and easy to find. I can't find any online sites that have a part number for the driver's side.


I think a standard trail would be "With power, Without ventilated." I think that's a limited thing.

Anyway, the plan is to modify the new foam, and swap it in. Anyone done it yet?

On further research (other forums, other cars) it looks like people are cutting the top of the seat. That seems weird.

I can't imagine a good reason not to cut the underside of the seat - leaving the top smooth. I'd think less likely to get saggy upholstery that way too.

I'm assuming, whatever trim model you have, that it doesn't have the power seat option to lower. I'm 6'0 and I can actually sit lower in the driver's seat than my 5'8 wife can in the passenger seat.
