99 T4R all of sudden having serious problems
I have searched all over these forums...whenever i see the same symptoms...never a conclusion!!.
Im in Columbus Oh....does anyone recommend where to get my repairs done??...i just want it done right!
Ok so i have a 99 4 runner Sr5 V6 3.4L
I just bought last summer and the truck was immaculate...115000 miles...no check engine light..runs like a sewing machine...took it into valvoline and they showed the previous owner mantained on time and used nothing bought full synthetic oil and showed all other services up to date...
So the truck thru a code P0125...insuffixient coolant temp closed loop.....driving home one day i noticed steam from the hood...the overflow was super low and boiling...it was kinda sludgy at the bottom..and i lost voolant somewhere.... I put coolant in and it never happened again...however i didnt fix the code....autostore suggests replace thermostat which would make sense...why it over heated...and also why my AC stopped blowing cold....as for the sludge at the bottom of my overflow....I have no signs of pink milkshake...and Trans fluid looks and smells clean....
So driving another month...going about 50 mph the truck stopped accelerating...felt like i put it into neutral...the engine would rev but no acceleration.....i pulled over...shut it off...started back up and drove away fine...a few miles later it did it again...truck would rev...no accelration...and now my speedometer stopped moving....i parked and towed it home....
Besides the p0125 code....this truck was running awesome and alll a sudden this happens....Truck starts up everytime perfectly as it should...idleas fantastic... Im parked sorta facing downhill...i start up...put it into reverse and it rolls forward...but if i give it gas it will slowly back up but not until 3000 rpms...like it didnt engage..but its obviously in reverse cuz it backed up with gas......but then sometimes it works fine and it backs right out...i havent driven the truck since it got towed at all...ive just started up and played with the grears a lil bit....when this happened there absolutely no noises...no grinding...nothing felt bad..sooo i guess im having symptoms of the pink milkshake but i dont have the milkshake in the tranny at all....i feel like it may be something sensor related? I have no clue! And what sucks is ive had such bad luck with repair shops in the past that im scared to take it somewhere besides the dealer...because they should be able to figure it out but no they will hose me....at this point i just wanna make sure its back to normal when i pay the Mechanic
