Anyone in St. Louis?

My sons going to be there m-f for at least a couple weeks, maybe more. He'll be staying in Sunset Hills. Looking for good eats around there, + for great BBQ. Anything interesting to do nearby? He's all about cars, racing, off-road, etc. so if there are any car clubs or jeep clubs that might have any get togethers in the evenings that would be cool. Any cool tuner or 4x4 shops around there?

Check out Mo4wd - Index they might have some off road events going on before Christmas.

As far as BBQ goes, couple places downtown one is called Pappy's and another one called Bogart's. Excellent BBQ in my opinion.

Ball-park village might be a cool place for him to check out (the Blues play Mon. and Thurs. of this coming week so there should be a good amount of people down there)

Nothing in Sunset Hills that I know of but downtown STL is not that far of a drive at all from sunset hills

There is also this place called Triumph Grill closer to downtown STL that is an awesome place to grab some grub. They have a huge vintage motorcycle museum attached to the restaurant and great food. I know it's not cars or off-road but still very cool.

Mo4wd is a local club along with Midwest Jeep Thing (open to everyone). There are a couple other small clubs, but most Jeep related. On Sundays at St. Charles Convention Center there is an Autocross Club that gets together. They set-up a course, and do timed laps.

As mentioned above, Pappy's is the best bbq place in St. Louis. You need to get there early because they only make a certain amount of meat per day. You can also go to Sugarfire, and Hendricks bbq.

As far as Sunset Hills goes. There isn't anything there with the exception of Helen Fitzgerald's. They have average food, and happy hour specials. There's also a place called Mile 277 that has pretty good food, drink specials, and nightly entertainment.

Depending on you sons age will determine a lot. St. Louis has a ton of good Craft Breweries. About 5 minutes north of Sunset Hills on Lindbergh is Kirkwood Station Brewing, and they have good food. There are also some other good places to eat in Kirkwood. You can park next to Kirkwood Station for free, and walk around the downtown area.

Sams Steakhouse is the best steak in town and it is not far. Off Grovois Road. Helen Fitzgeralds is great place to pick up cougars if you can move through the crowd.

I second Bogarts for local BBQ! There may be a Bandanna's chain BBQ closer to Sunset Hills if I recall.

We hold a monthly members meeting every month, but we usually lay low over the winter months, but I think we're getting something together at the end of this month sometime, usually dinner and drinks. As for other local car clubs, tuner clubs are down over the winter cause no one wants to stand around outside when its 10 degrees outside. Do you know what the exact dates are that he'll be here? We're doing a new years run at a park about 45 mins away.

As for food, Pappys/Bogarts is good, but I think the best BBQ in STL is Sugarfire Smokehouse on Olive, a lot closer to Sunset Hills than the other 2. Seamus Mcdaniels has a really awesome buffalo chicken sandwhich, located in Dogtown, its a cool little irish pub/restaurant. If he can go to bars, Itap is a must, there's 3 locations spread out throughout Saint Louis.
