Anyone know a dealer offering good prices in FL or the SE

I'm ready to pull the trigger on the purchase of a 5th gen (looking for a white 4x4 Limited, no nav no 3rd row).

Seems like a number of members here have been getting $1500-$2500 below MSRP, that sound about right?

The two Central FL dealers I called seem to be under the impression they don't need to let them go below MSRP. Anyone know of a dealer that's willing to actually deal?

Dealers are not going to start at below sticker for a brand new model that is just hitting their showrooms.

Calling a dealer is not the same as sitting in the chair and haggling.

Maybe so ... but it seems plenty of people here have been getting a not insignificant amount below MSRP.

New vehicle or not, US auto sales are half what they were a couple years ago, and body on frame SUVs aren't too popular right now. I realize they aren't going to advertise below MSRP.

I will go in to haggle, just want to get as much info and maybe a few internet quotes beforehand.

You are doing the right thing in researching and then going in with all your ammo. There are many many ways a dealership makes money besides the mark up from invoice.

Research on google"ways car dealers make money" I find that coming in with financing pre-approval from your bank or credit union is a big plus to pit your financing against Toyota Finance. I financed with them for the same rate as my credit union and THEY paid the extended warranty, gap ins. life ins. and Lojack for me financing with them. Heck ,they should as they are making over$7000 in financing charges over 5 years and those protect thier investment as well as yours.

That being said , I paid $1200 under invoice plus a bunch of extras and freebies for a loaded Limited.

Thanks ... I agree it's always best to have as much info as possible going into it, and to understand the economics from the dealerships POV.

In my case though it's pretty straightforward, I'm paying cash and I'm not trading in (this is a second car for me).

Don't tell them that until AFTER you have agreed on a price. They make money on financing, so they may not give you as good a deal if they know up front that you are paying cash.

Well, I emailed a number of dealers, spoke to a couple on the phone, and went in again to my local dealer to speak with them.

The problem right now is there are very few 4x4 Limiteds in FL. None of the dealers I spoke to had one on the lot (my local dealer has 3 4runners, 2 are SR5 one Limited, all RWD). They could all try and trade with another dealer, but I can't imagine I'm going to get as good a price in that situation as I would negotiating w/ a dealer with what I want on the lot.

I think I'll have to just wait a couple months until there is more inventory out there. I'd like to buy one right now, but I'm not really in a rush.
