Anyone know how to get the new car smell back?

My 4runner doesn't smell like anything on the inside. It doesn't smell old, or bad, or good. It's just neutral which i find boring. So, i was wondering if anyone has used something like this to get a new car smell: Air Freshener Concentrate New Car Fresh Smell 1 Quart | eBay You apparently spray it into the carpet. Is this a good idea? I just want the car to smell nice inside. Any other "fresh" ideas?

Yep. That's the stuff you want. Other than that you can get a 'new car' air freshener which will probably not be as successful

I use Wonder Wafers. You put 2 under the front seats and it does a great job!

Broncosi-Good to know! I've tried new car smell air fresheners from Target, but they smelled like strong, old soap.

Zuke-Thats an old article, but was a good read. I never knew that.

zerowkul98- is it over powering strong or just right? I actually might order some of those from amazon after seeing all the different flavors.

Its a little strong the 1st day or so, expecially in the summertime, when the windows are rolled up and the heat inside the cabin is intense. I dont like to spray scents directly on carpeting. I will use my carpet shampooer to clean the seats and carpet once or twice a year (or for emergencies, like if something spills inside the cabin) and the Bissel company makes scented shampoo's. So all in all, i shampoo to keep it clean, and use the wafers.

I clean my interior with Meguiers Interior cleaner every couple weeks. wipe down the dash, door panels, gear shift, arm rest, plastic in the cargo area. Leaves a nice scent, not overpowering.

yep, that's the stuff. I use a microfiber cloth to apply it. I don't see any towel fuzz, the stuff has some UV protection etc. it leaves a very slight gloss, nothing like those high shine products. I want it to be clean and appear in like new condition, I don't want an unnatural shine on mine.

Make sure your using a towel that's been washed a few times and fuzz shouldnt be a problem.

That, or micro-fiber towels. Ive been using them exclusively on my cars for about 8 years, for everything from exterior to interior. They are a few bucks more than regular towels/rags, but worth every cent. They dont leave swirl marks in paint like regular towels can (more noticeable on darker colored vehicles), and they dont leave any fuzz behind.

Ok ok i get it. I'll just stick with apple or pineapple flavors instead of dead body flavor :

I heard this was good to bring a rich leather scent and it protects the leather seats too! Z-10 Leather in a Bottle: Zaino Store

add a couple of sprays of this: Amazon.com: Griot's Garage 11150 Leather Scent - 4 oz.: Automotive

and now we have a new leather smelling car! I might give this a shot!

EDIT: Ok i just ordered both of these (cost $30) and will update if it's as good as the great reviews on both of these claim (i found these products on the mercedes benz forums here: http://www.benzworld.org/forums/detailing-car-care/1401978-leather-smell.html)
