Anyone looking for a good accessory mounting option?

Here's one from the box of forgotten photography gear. I was looking for a better mounting option for my Garmin GPS that would move it further away from the shift and 4wd levers without using a cupholder and having one of those "wobble" issues. I found it in my unused photography gear box. It's called the "UltraClamp", and it's made by Pedco. Here's a link to the site: Clamps and Mounts | Industrial Revolution. You can buy it for a lot less over on "Cheaper than Dirt" though. I currently have this holding my Garmin 2597 firmly in place just below my AC knob in the center of the console. I clamped it to the plastic between those two little storage spots just left of the usb connector. You can't even see the clamp, and the Garmin unit now looks almost like part of the console.

I originally bought this when I was figuring out how to mount camera gear on my kayak....but it was too light duty for my gear. This thing is rated at 6 pounds, so it will hold a lot of gear (like GPS, tablets, etc.) really well, with virtually no vibration. It also gives you a lot of versatility in that you can clamp it in many different locations. Instead of using the tripod plate, I just cut the Garmin ball off a cup holder mount, and drilled a 1/4" hole in it and threaded it onto the end of the tripod mount after removing that plastic tripod disc. Took less than 5 minutes.

Attached are pics of the UltraClamp model I used....and also a tripod to garmin adapter I found out there for a few bucks. I didn't use the adapter, but maybe someone else would use that instead of making one like I did. Hope it helps someone.

Thanks, I like it too. Easy to see, rock solid, looks like a factory install from the seats, hidden from outside view when in a parking lot, you get to keep you cup holder, and it doesn't interfere with any shift knobs. Hard to ask for much more than that!

Thanks for the pics! My antenna on my old Garmin doesn't work too well down there as it loses it's signal often. I may have to go with a suction mount to the window where it gets the best reception.

I just upgraded to the 6 inch Garmin with the HD antenna (shown in pics above) and it gets plenty of signal down there. Even with the cord coiled and stashed behind the unit. The newer units don't depend as much on cell signals.
