Anyone tried the Moog "tall" Springs?

My father has worked for Federal Mogul for over 30 years... I've used MOOG chassis parts on my former Ram 2500 diesel truck and it was 100% better quality than OEM. I have nothing but great things to say about their products. High quality all around.

Federal Mogul LBJ's are proven to be inferior(if not incomparable) to OEM parts for the 4Runner. With that said, a lot of their parts are often better than OEM for most domestics in my experience.

Springs aren't as risky as LBJ's, and I think they look pretty good once installed so I wouldn't be scared of them.

SaulG, sorry to bring this post back from the dead. But have you tried these ACDELCO rear springs? The 45H2131?

I'm debating between those and the Moog 81041 (Cheapo 99 Talls) it looks like the ACDelco springs are variable spring rate coils, but the question is how do they handle and watch is the variable rate. Thought you might have the input.

I just removed a set of Moog '99 talls from my truck . They raised it about 1" from 20" to
21" . Used Bilstein 4600's on the front and 5100's in the back with airbags .
The setup worked fine for my stock rig with a dirt bike on a hitch hauler . Nice on the highway and worked off road . Forget about it with the full Shrock Works Suite (sweet) of armor I installed .

The removed moog / bilstein springs and shocks with the coilovers assembled are for sale (cheap) and will be in the F.S. forum soon. Just 5,000 miles on them .

I have them on the front with bilstein 4600 hd. Rides pretty good on road until you hit a bump, then you’re all over the place - pretty jarring. I suspect that the springs are significantly beefier than OEM. I put on a 90 lb front bumper and it didn’t drop the height at all. Also I had them installed at a shop and the mechanic said he’s never had as hard of a time compressing any spring.

I haven’t experienced the ride with a proper suspension, but I will probably upgrade to toytec ultimate soon after I put a winch on mine and see how it rides. If it’s still on the stiffer side I’ll drop some dough on a more legit setup.

Are you aware that AC Delco is nothing more than a 're-boxxer' for the things they sell ? They literally make nothing- they buy parts from different manufacturers and put their name on it.

I went with the Moog rears a few months ago as a cheap ( $40) short term solution for my severely worn stock springs. I can say that so far they work fine and has been the single best maintenance item that I've replaced along with KYB Monomax shocks.

I didn't think it was to that extent. I'm junk yard diving now to try and find something toyota to use. If I don't find much, I think the Moogs will make a good second choice.

Boudin, did the 81041 work in the rear without needing to cut or heat the spring up to get it to fit on the perch?

I installed these springs and had zero issues installing them. They were actually the same height as me OEM springs ( 97 ). But once installed under the trucks weight, I was sitting up about an inch from before.
