Anyone try JBA A-Arms?

I recently came across this site that sells JBA A-arms for 03+ 4runner's.. I'm not sure if that includes ours or not. Does anyone have a pair of their A-Arms? if so, how do you like them? Any downsides?

Never heard of them. Product looks OK I guess. As long as they're precise in their jig to assemble them. I think the real key is the upper ball joint with greater range of angle moreso than contact with the spring, so I'm not sure the marketing explanation is valid. If it were merely a clearance issue we'd all just modify our stock arms with a grinder.

Any idea on $?

They look kind of cheesy to me. For that much, I'd go with SPC arms and have a ton of camber and caster adjustability.

The only good thing I see is once that BJ fails, you can just unbolt it, then bolt a new one in without needing a press.

JBA A-Arms

I just recently installed the JBA A-Arms on my 2010 Tacoma... So far so good!
JBA had certaily done there homework on improving the stock A-arms. They add about an extra 1' or so of travel over the stock A-Arms and the ability to replace the ball joints when needed. The grease fitting was also added to prevent premature wear. JBA started with the jeeps and have heard excellent reviews on there products. I was glad to see JBA are getting into the Toyota market. Keep up the good work JBA!!

Hello! I actually just posted a link about these on facebook! I am running his ucas on my 2014 tacoma with a 2.5 inch lift and they feel great. His ideas are to get as much travel as possible while keeping them simple to maintain reasonable in price and great ride. It corrected my camber and caster back into spec and I have no more bump steer or funny squeaks. These are a great product with a lifetime warranty to boot! Buy it you won't regret it!

I can't speak for the JBA Toyota products but JBA started off making A Arms for the Jeep liberty. In Jeep Liberty circles the A Arms by JBA have a great reputation and Marlin (current owner) has a great reputation for customer service.

Only failure I have ever heard of happened years ago when the original owner (retired) was first developing the arms (~2005) and it was more from abuse then anything else. JBA still replaced them free of charge no questions asked if I remember the discussion correctly.

I have a set of the JBA A Arms on my CRD Liberty (only been on about 6 months) and I have no complaints other than I should have done it sooner.

What's with that scraggly looking ground up spacer on the end of the ball joint ?you could see it even rusted in the picture , I don't understand . otherwise they look pretty good I would've mounted the ball joint under the arm but whatever.

That's not the right upper ball joint for a 5th, 4th or FJ. The Tacoma has a smaller ball joint. It looks like a Chevy or Ford full size joint that happens to be the same tapper, but too long, hence the spacer.

Also the Tacoma and 4Runner/FJ need different corrections, that is why SPC and Camburg make different versions for the different vehicles.

A Tacoma is no means a 4Runner. They are very different vehicles made on different continents from completely different suppliers.

My advise would be to machine a slug for the correct 5th gen 4Runner MOOG ball joint to be pressed into.

Looks to be an older 2WD Chevy truck balljoint. Good to know you can get something other than the junk Moog ones.

That's one of the things I brought up to him yesterday the spacer is for different amounts of camber for different amounts of lift up to 4 inches..right now I could actually take mine off as in only at 2.5 lift but in going up soon. He is going to either look into aluminum or powder coating the steel.

Sounds a bit jumbled together. I think I'll stick with a ball joint made for my truck...

Ok, great news- JBA upper control arms are a enormous improvement over stock UCAs, so much more stable on the highway. I am getting some rubbing with BFG AT KO2 285/70/17 on the arms at full lock. This rubbing is very minor. I like that the ball joint is replaceable and greaseable. :banana:

What wheel backspacing are you running? I have 17x9 with a 4.5" BS and am trying to put together a plan for the impending lift. I really like serviceability of these UCAs and the price isn't bad either. I will not be getting new wheels so whatever path I decide to take needs to work with my current setup. If you're running the stock 4.5" BS then that may be a problem.
