anyone used this Toytec coilover kit?

ToyTec coilover kit with Bilstein 5100 shocks

You have to use your own top plates, but the money savings is good.
I installed my 881s on stockers, so I know how to compress the springs and such, but Ive never worked with adjustables... Some experiences on how your install went and how its been working for you would be appreciated.

And just a word or two to some of you other cheap skates, lol... The 881/890 kits are cheap and decent springs, but be forewarned... the top plate spacers really make a harsher ride with less offroad compliance.
Its a decent lift, but here I am about to almost completely redo my suspension over the winter (effectively spending more than doing it right the first time)because I went the cheap route

I may keep the 890s and add a couple trim spacers and new shocks, but even those may have to go now that I have an RTT and plan on a heavy rear bumper later...
Here we go again. Hopefully soon. Might actually start a build thread this time

I just recently installed the tundra billie 5100's with the toytec/eibach 3 inch coils with new top hats. Assembly was not to bad at all. Use a spring compressor that uses small u-bolts so the risk of slipping off is not a worry, or have a shop assemble them for you. The first time i did it brakes plus assembled them for 50.00.

I did the front end of my lift for $310 dollars using 5100s, and the tundra springs, I don't really see the advantage of adding that adjustable sleeve, you would have to get an alignment every time you adjust it.

Also I assembled my own struts, you can loan out a spring compressor from auto zone and they give you the money back when you bring it back in. Plus if you don't have a second car its kind of hard to use the old top plates since you sort of need them to use the truck.

They look nice, thought still more than I want to spend.
I'm still on the fence about what I want, but right now it's a toss up between:
1. Toytech [Eicbach] springs and Bilstien 5100 all the way around.
my concern with this set up is, stock weight the rear is lifted almost 4" (3.75"), not sure I want quite that much lift. I'll eventually end up with a plate bumper in the rear, but not right away.

2. Tundra Springs up front, and OME coils in the back, with 5100s all the way around.
If I go with Tundra springs and OME 890/891, if I'm right I'll have a .5" rake front to rear, or can adjust the fronts up. From what I've read the Tundra TRD springs give a 2.5" lift up front. If it was 2", I'd got with OME 906.

Either setup I'm putting Airlift air bags in the back to help with towing and hauling my dirt bike on the hitch hauler.

Right now I'm rolling on 31" tires (265/70/16) and will probably wait until it's time for new tires to do the lift and go with 265/75 (32") or 285/75 (33").

What are y'all's thoughts?

This is what I'm thinking about going with, did you do this set up front and rear?
How much rake do you have?
Can you reuse the top hats? And where did you order yours from and how much?
Sorry for all the questions

How much lift did you get up front, and what did you do for the rear?

On the second perch it ended up being 2" (assuming 22" hub to fender) of lift so I might throw it on the third, for the back I got 8.25 and 8.75 wrap springs from the lx450/ some landcruisers, and the rear lc shocks, the springs were $35 for both of the rear, and $41 for each rear shock from Toyota the rear fj80 ones, 4" in the back assuming 22.5" fender to hub. My springs were the stock ones for an 02 which were the shortest from the factory and I also had 240k miles on them, overall I got about 3.5 in the front of lift and 5.5 in the back compared to my old springs.

This kit though.... It's very different then a true coil over. The top hard on a coilover are I'd say better design ?

Cool, so you've got a 2" rake from back to front.
I've looking thru your build thread, it look great!

I'm on the stock suspension, and the runner has 163k miles. The rear is pretty much rich on the bump stops, so the ride is kind of rough

That's a good , however I think the mmoney could be better spent on some total chaos upper control arms, you can get a much better alignment and more droop as well.

How much lift did you get up front, and what did you do for the rear?

I got about 1-1.5 inches of rake. Yes you can reuse the top hats but to save time I bought new due to the condition of my stock hardware I would of farted around all day trying to disassemble so I could use original top hats.

The front netted me 3.5" on second perch on the TUNDRA billies. After some settling in i am around 3.25" or a tad under. The rear I used land cruiser 8 wraps with regular monroe land cruiser shocks.

Toytec/Eibach 3inch springs- 169.99
Tundra Bilstein Adjustable- 200.00
Used LC 8 wraps- 70.00
LC Monroe rear shocks- 80.00
Monroe Top Hats- 50.00
Panhard Drop- 49.99
Diff drop- 30.99
Total- 650.97
With shipping costs and tax plus other odds and ends to help install I probably spent 800.00ish for a complete lift kit that rides very nice. I am pleased with the cost and ride quality.

I also spent 200.00 on some 1.25 wheel spacers to get some more clearance between the upper control arm and tire. I would of bought some wheels from wheelers offroad but I kind of like the look of the factory five spoke wheels.

I'm talking to a guy in a nearby town thy has some new in the box 5100 fronts and 5125 rears for $300.
I've got some airlift helper air bags for the back on the way.
Just unsure what I want to do for the springs. I want it to sit pretty level, or maybe a little rake.

And I'm with you, I really like the factory 5star. I'll probably get some spacers at some point too. And maybe plasti-dip them black.

I am liking this set up. I have 8 wraps currently waiting in my garage but was trying to figure out the front. You have about 1-1.5 inch of rake but are sitting at about 3.25 in the front, correct? So the rear is at about 4.5?

It is a 5100/eibach coilover. Only difference is the stock vs toytec top plates which the only advantage of one over another is purely asthetic.IMHO
Idk though... its a lot more work tosave 150 bucks and not have the pretty top plates, lol. We'll see how the budget cooperates

You spent 800,why not just order toytec ultamite for around 1000 after discount?

Very good question, I pieced together my lift when i could over a year and a half when i had extra money. Now that I look back on it that wouldn't of been to bad of a deal to buy the ultimate
