Anyone using a Dometic CFX 28us Fridge?

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with this brand? Looks like a quality item for around $400.
I also need a sanity check...It draws 6 amps on 12v and .75 amps on 110v. That's less than 100 watts on ac power so I was thinking about just running it off the factory 400w inverter?

I'm using one and am not running a deep cycle battery yet. Use it frequently on trips around the midatlantic between destinations. Haven't used it always on camping yet but I do get the running temp prepped at home prior to departure to save some battery juice.

I have an Indel B fridge but got the dometic fridge slide, it's a solid slide setup for sure, can't speak to the fridges. Helpful I know... :der:

I have the Dometic CFX-40. The 6 amp draw listed is maximum with the compressor running, it will usually be much less, but there is no problem plugging in 6 amps to the 12V plug

Does the 28 not come with a 12V plug? Use that instead of the inverter, there is no reason to use the 120v outlet for this.

I was thinking using the inverter I could power the fridge off/on using the factory switch in the dash. This model does run on 12v and 120v so I guess I will try both once it arrives. Thanks for the input the Dometic seems like a good option to the rather pricey ARB.

The Edgestar 43 is a popular cheap fridge, not as good quality as Dometic though

I installed a 12v outlet in the back wired direct to the battery and run my fridge all the time, the voltage protect will shut it off before your battery gets too low. for extended camping and stuff you'll want a second battery or goal zero 400 or something but for day to day you don't need to worry about any of that

When you say the 12v is switched, as in it's only on when the truck is running? I did see a 12v always on mod but it wasn't for 5th gen.

Yes, it's only on when the truck is. I think the always on mod is for the front 12v, to get an always on 12v in the back just run a dedicated fused power wire from the battery.

All good advice, and I am running my ARB off a dedicated 12v outlet in the back too 24/7.

One thing to add- I run a dual battery setup along with an onboard charger. If you don't want the complexity of the dual batteries I would highly recommend an onboard charger. I have the outlet plug mounted on my rear bumper and I just plug in an extension cord when I get home. My batteries are both fully maintained now (I have a dual bank NORCO charger) and if you are at a campground with electricity- or a generator- you can run the fridge without fear of draining the battery at all.

On the high setting the Dometic will shutoff at 11.8v automatically, I tested mine and the truck started no differently than normal. That's obviously not good enough of you are camping and have frozen meat or something, but for day to day use carrying drinks or bringing home groceries you don't have to worry about it.

I plan on plugging mine into Yeti 400 when it gets warmer. I liked your charger mod, I wish I didn't live downtown so I had somewhere I could just plug in overnight
