Anyone visit Yosemite around this time of year?

This is my first post here. First off I would like to thank everyone on the forum for providing me with the answers to all my questions through the use of the search function. I bought my 4Runner to do as Toyota puts it and "Go places." Haven't really gotten dirty, only driven it around town for a couple hundred miles. Never been to Yosemite National Park and was contemplating on taking a weekend trip down to check out the park. Anyone have any recommendations on places to see or things to do while in Yosemite this time of year? You know the places only veteran explorers experience when they visit. Look forward to hearing from you all. Thank you ahead of time.

Perfect time of year to do hiking and rock climbing. Usually it is really dry this time of year. I've been late October and it was beautiful. The waterfalls aren't going to really be firing, usually they are dried up by now.

Also, great city you are from. I was there earlier this year visiting Patagonia's headquarters. Fun little surfing city!

Been some years since I was last there but this is a nice time of year in Yosemite.

My buddy and I spent a few days over Thanksgiving one year backpacking in off Tioga Road up to the Vogelsang Pass area. Turned pretty cold as I recall with a couple of sub zero days but we were pretty well prepared.

Beautiful country, you won't regret visiting.

Last time I was there (this time of year) was in my brand new 1976 Chevy Malibu Classic. About a foot of snow though the roads were plowed. The 2 wheel drive v8 powered rig on street tires did very well. You can't really go anywhere too adventurous in a national park - No off roading.

I hit up the Glacier point trail yesterday. Great weather, gorgeous scenery, good hike. Definitely recommend.

This time of year, watch the weather. It can be 60 and clear one day, and snowing the next. Other than that, you can't lose. Been there many times. The Valley can be a little touristy, but this time of year it can be empty which is really nice. Honestly, just go. Pick a trail and start walking. You'll enjoy it. Make sure to get up to Glacier Point at sunset.

Great time of year to go. Especially as it's been pretty warm down in SoCal still for this late into the fall. If you don't climb rocks, now is a good time to give it a shot while you're there. If that ain't your game, hike half dome. Even if you don't make it to the top, there are several lakes along the way and it's incredibly beautiful.

Fewer tourists now than in the spring, as the waterfalls are not at their peaks. But the half dome hike will still seem pretty busy for the first section.

Definitely be on the look out for bears and newly born rattlesnakes. Do NOT leave any food in your car, not even cigarettes or wrappers. Your sweet ride will be ripped open like a bag of chips if a bear is hungry enough, and they haven't gone into hibernation yet for this season.

McGee Mountain is just south of Convict Lake and is a very steep narrow road that includes many switchbacks.

Yosemite itself is pretty thick with rules. Familiarize yourself with them.

Thanks for the help. Just asked my boss for the weekend off and I managed to peer pressure some of my lazy friends to tag along. Hiking is gonna be our cup of tea, if we go rock climbing you'll see us on the news "THE SEARCH FOR AMATEUR ROCK CLIMBERS CONTINUES TODAY." :director:

Ventura is really chill :fish2: One of many reasons I can never see myself leaving this place. It's located in the right spot, far enough from Los Angeles and not too far from Santa Barbara. Been moving back and forth from Ventura to Oxnard all my life. There are a lot of beautiful places around the country but as The Godfather best said it "I try to leave but they keep pulling me back in"

It's really has been warm here in SoCal this past few weeks. Never thought a small wrapper would attract a bear. I will savagely attack any bear with my bare hands that gets too close to my baby "Lorraine" don't ask me why but I have this obsession with Back To The Future, the will have to tranqualize me
