I didn't see anywhere that you mention what your current fuel economy actually is. If your getting like 8 then there's something seriously wrong that needs to be fixed.
I'm getting 18.4mpg on my 32" snowflake rated All terrains.
Tires are a huge factor. It came from my grandmother-in-law with these 8 year old rock hard Michelin M/S2's and got 22-25mpg but I'll take the hit to fuel economy to not slide into a ditch anytime it thinks about raining let alone snow/ice.
I'm currently getting around 15-16mpg on stock street tires. I don't know how you're getting that with bigger, all terrain tires, let alone getting 22-25 before.
