Met up with Zach [MENTION=211665]zimp132[/MENTION] yesterday and traded a bike for his awesome handbuilt roof rack. This thing is a work of art, and I can't wait to put it to the test in my future years of owning it! Thanks again man, and it was awesome meeting another 3rd Gen brother!

That's freaking awesome to hear. I guess if anyone else is looking for a bike built for them, I'll entertain T4R armor trades! Time for a bumper. Thanks for chiming in, and you had better post up when you get your next rack built up for all to see!

awesome build thread my man. I've a 99 limited and I love what you've done with the grille and bumper. Do you have any insights on the process to cut the bumper like you did?

Thanks mate! So all I used for trimming the bumper was some masking tape and my trusty dremel cutoff wheel. Tape both sides with a nice line, do some measurements to make sure each side is equal (optional), and slowly work the dremel at a low speed to minimize plastic melt. Then take some 200-400 grit sandpaper to work each edge smooth! Should leave a nice round edge.

I followed up with plastic trim paint and it looks factory. Hope this helps!

Then take some 200-400 grit sandpaper to work each edge smooth! Should leave a nice round edge.

cheers, seems easy enough. My plan was to paint the lower valence to match a satoshi grille and it looks like these cuts are an easy way to add an aggressive look and more tire clearance. I wonder how it would look if I kept the Limited fender flares and cladding, however.

Speaking of the grille, when you did yours, did you ever consider cutting the entire middle crossmember off and moulding epoxy into the shape a 96-98 grille would look? See here:

Can confirm. Those are the reasons why I did it. I think it will be a-OK with limited flares and cladding as well.

I can say it crossed my mind, but where is the uniqueness in that? Then I would have to do all that work to get it to look like something I can just buy. Idk, I wanted to change it up a bit! To each his own I guess... Haha

Couple updates. Starting to investigate the tried and true Hulix 167 snorkel. I'm jonesing to get rid of cold air intake and get some true airflow to the engine, feel like the snork will help.

Also, hope to have my hands on a 4xi front bumper in a month or less!

Lil' maintenance today--did an oil change at 215,703 miles. Semi-synth with the ol' trusty 10241 filter. Smooth as silk.

Well, an exciting change is coming - my first real armor on the Iceberg. 4xinnovations was able to hook me up with a front bump!

I have a couple unique things I want to do to it before install to be unique. Stay tuned as I document the process!

The fit is perfect, nice and beefy. You'll probably want a rear too. Although if I were to get another rear I'd get mine with light buckets. I Monstalined mine.

Right on. Yeah, I can't wait. I am lucky enough to live in the same town as 4xI so to be able to go in and see a bunch of what they create is beyond neat. Impressive, too. I've always thought I'd be building my own bumper (which I still may down the road), but the combination of time, sale prices, and them being a stand-up local company made me take the plunge. Yours looks great man! No doubt I stared at pics of your truck before making the decision...

The skid plate cutouts were laser cut before it was bent up to shape and hemmed. Just a pattern that was easy and simple! I might have to slightly modify the mounting of it with the new bumper on it's way. And to reiterate, it's only out of 1/8" sheet, so really more of a guard vs. a skid!


But with the right tools (small diameter angle grinder, Dremel to cleanup edges, etc) and a simple printed out template, freehand would be totally doable.

I have a 4x4I front thick plate skid sitting in my basement for a few months, besides a Shrokworks gas skid and Stubbs sliders. Not sure on my plans because they may be switched up cause maybe a 2nd 3rd gen coming in that I maybe doing some more major stuff on. But surely that one will be getting some 4x4I stuff too.

Picked up my 3rd Gen front bumper from Adam @ 4xInnovations today and it looks awesome! Came with flush mount Optronics LED signals, all mounting hardware, and decals to boot. To say I'm excited to paint it up and get it installed is an understatement...

The Iceberg is 217k old as of today. Took it for a cruise on the freeway and passed three 3rd Gens, one 4th, and 4 5th Gens in 2 hours of driving... Not too shab.

Also, this reaches about 5,000 miles on these Falken AT3W tires. Wearing well, lots of tread remaining, and have held solid footing in the snow and ice we had last month. Can't complain.

Got the 4xinnovations bumper mocked up after removing a couple stripped side bolts (that frankly took me way too long to remove, even after a heat cycle).

Next step: clean, prep, and paint in the next week or so! Full stoke.
