Apple iOS 5

Just thought I would let everyone know that with the iOS 5 update your iPhone/iPod will finally display the audio information on our stereo display when connected via bluetooth!

Is it weird that this made me really happy? LOL

Sweeet! I was wondering if our head units had this capability and we were just being held back by the OS.

Hate to hijack here, but is there an easy way to navigate an iPod on the stereo? I have 130 gigs of music and it's a real pain to cycle through. It'll start playing a new song every screen I cycle through, and I always have to start at the top of the list when searching, and other things. I know, trivial, but painful to the point that I use it less now.

How did you figure this out? I already has ios 5 on my iPad, will the bluetooth work with it?

No, not really. If you want to listen to an artist, album, or shuffle songs, it works well. Otherwise, it isn't very good. The bluetooth is the way to go.

Did you actually confirm this with the beta version, or the GM? For some reason I'm a little skeptical of the OEM radio.

i wonder if this will work with my z130BT...i am jailbroken on my iPhone, so i don't know...ahhhhhhhh decisions, decisions!

For those that have their iPad connected to the vehicle with Bluetooth, how is the sound quality compared to when it's directly connected via the USB???

it should sound better connected via USB because the audio has to be compressed to stream via Bluetooth. (BT is relatively low-bandwidth, having been designed for wireless communication with peripherals (keyboards, mice, etc.) after all.

Quick google searching shows bluetooth having a data transfer rate of greater than 1MB/s. Most digital music is sampled at 256mbps or less. Thus, other than noise, one would think that there would be no difference in quality between the USB connection and bluetooth. I also find it hard to believe that the iPhone would compress on the fly and respond as quickly as it does. I'm sure there might be something I'm missing, but compressing doesn't make sense to this layman.

Personally, I've been very happy with the sound quality through the bluetooth.

I have the same freeking issue and I don't understand why they would even design it to work that way.. What the is the point of that?

If you ever find out how to fix or turn that off.. please let me know.

So I just realized that not only does it show the name of the song, but by hitting the 'text' button you can cycle through and also display artist name, album name, and running time. Neat.

Just in case anyone doubts me. LOL.
