Well, after the update on my Ipod Touch, USB still sounds slightly better to my ears. BT Audio is pretty cool now with the new added functions. USB "static noise" issue is gone. So, it is now back to USB music connection...but i am glad that BT Audio is now a viable alternative.

Sorry for the hijack but why do so many of you even use BT streaming for music? I bought one of those ultra small usb thingies, loaded a ton of songs and just leave it in the usb port in the truck..

That was intentional. But I do really enjoy that song, though. I like music by everyone from Metallica to Radiohead to Death Cab for Cutie to Kanye West to Lady Gaga to Willie Nelson. Good music is good music.

phillyd - I use bluetooth streaming because it is always up to date with my new music and using voice control, I can tell it to play any artist or album without having to scroll through the insufferable menus on the head unit. I'm too moody about what I'm wanting to listen to just leave it on shuffle. Plus, as you can see above, I have a pretty wide range of music on my iphone. Getting a marilyn manson song right after I've selected a song by coldplay doesn't flow very well.

Most songs are in the root directory with a few full albums in their own folders. Getting to a certain song is a PIA but the whole drive only contains songs I really like - sort of a best of everything - so its not much a issue for me.

I just like to select my music rather than use random. USB interface is terrible and the interface on my iphone is fast and efficient.... not to mention it always has my newest music and I dont have to put new stuff on multiple devices...

Glad this works - it's been bugging me since I've had the iPhone.

I'm glad to see it works on the NAV. I'll be waiting for a JB for iOS5 (untethered) before I update tho. I have to many tweaks I love and I'm content waiting for now.

My iOS5 is up and running. The only annoyance, now, is that "pause" pops up between each song for a split second while the data is being sent over.

I didn't think 5th Gen owners were allowed to listen to Lady Gaga in their truck :biggrin2:

BTW, for those with the Pioneer Z130BT headunit, updating to iOS5 also updates the Bluetooth capability so you can stream music and see who is actually playing on the dash, It Does not display album art though.

With iOS 5 my iphone4 plays nice with the no-NAV head unit... finally. Edit: with Bluetooth, that is.

Previously the head unit and phone would not finish their handshake. It got halfway through so that my phone would start up the ipod app and begin playing. The connection would then fail abruptly and the phone would revert to using its internal speaker.

Yup. Although I prefer to use BT and leave a wall charger in the center console on the AC jack.

Ya, i had that problem too. Annoying when the phone was in your bag or pocket and starts blasting music at full volume...

IOS 5 Issues

I'm actually having an issue with IOS 5 and my 2011 4Runner TE...
I'm a bit of an Apple Fanboy and use an iPhone and iPad... However it appears that in both whenever you "Pause" the music it kills the feed to the head unit... There's also no difference between the music volume and output from an application.

So tonight when I saw a bad accident and fired up my Police/Fire scanner I couldn't kill the music and let the application stream like I have in the past. I tested this on a few applications and both devices without being able to make it work. I hope a firmware update for the head unit or IOS 5 will fit it. Loved being able to stream application audio in the past!
