Have these on my rig and they are more stout than they appear. Mine have taken several significant impacts, and while I have had to pound them back into shape a couple times, they have generally preformed beyond expectations. I will concede that the rear cross member is a weak point and needs to be redesigned for added strength.
My replacement bracket was made out of 1/4 angle, it didn't bend again. Instead, it started shearing the mounting bolts off, since they are in shear where it connects to the factory crossmember.Eventually I'll fab my own crossmember out of 3/16ths or something.

It's been a while since I got rid of mine, so I'm not totally sure I'm picturing it right, but I think that would probably work.Hmmm. Good point. I'll have to crawl under there and think on it. Do you think if you cut the last 1.5-2" off (the part hanging under the exhaust).that would allow it to rest against the crossmember and reduce shear on the bolts?
