Are Left and Right CV axles interchangeable?

Hey guys,
I'm planning on buying an extra cv axle(probably not OEM) to have on hand. Are both front and left the same length? Would it matter if I bought a right or left side axle as I've seen listed online? Which manufacturer would be your suggestion?

If they have the same P/N then they are the same exactly. Any difference and the P/N will change.

Just ordered the A1 Cardone which states it's for either side.
