Aw man this thread is getting a lot of attention! Makes me feel stoked and happier about my move to Phoenix! Would love to exchange info with you guys for a future meet and potential offroad/ camping/ outdoor excursions whatever!

LOL - Sorry had to say it.

Gilbert/Chandler is nice, but you have to get used to the smell... thank the cows.

I lived in downtown Phoenix for 2 years, it's really nice but getting too expensive (for the Phoenix metro area), so I moved to Tempe and loving it.
 
I worked in Phoenix for a couple of years. I lived in Anthem which was the farthest north of the city you could get while still being in unincorporated Phoenix. Look, the city is a pit (to put it nicely). The only thing that saved me was getting out of town and wheeling and dirt biking. Got married in Sedona, lots of great wheeling there. The desert is beautiful and mean. Every living thing has a sharp point, hook or needle on it and wants to kill you. I've been back a couple of time to AZ just for the beautiful rugged desert and wheeling. I would move back to Arizona in a heart beat if only they could remove Phoenix!
 
I just moved back to AZ after living in Texas for 10 years. Went there for school and had a couple of jobs. Told my girlfriend, when we started dating 3 years ago, I had full intention of making it back to AZ and I brought her with me as my fiance. Love the outdoors and desert in AZ and always have. Welcome to all who have moved her recently!
 
Have to agree with the others...Gilbert is a great place to live and very family oriented. We've been here since last June and like it well enough, but due to work and family will be moving back to Vegas in a few months.
 
I recommend finding two books:

"Arizona off the beaten path"

and

"Arizona trails"

"explore Arizona" and "southwest camping" get honorable mention

then I'd get the Arizona Topo map book <- I keep one in my truck at all times.

Scottsdale is not a low cost place to live. also in the warm months if you like outdoors you will have to go north to the Sedona flagstaff grand Canyon areas. very beautiful much outdoor off road .

I have been to Scottsdale many times one day 120 deg F then the next day flooding rains .. forgot to mention before the flooding rains the dust storms .

most times I do like the 110 deg f heat and the dry air. but 120 deg f its too much for me to handle that...

keep the radiator fins clean..

Another option is Chandler (next door to Gilbert)

we live in Chandler and love it.
 
Just bought the wife a 16 Trail in white yesterday. We live in Central Phoenix. Total Toyota NOOB here; i've had a titan pro4x since 2011 and am pretty active on the titan boards.


How big a tire can i run on stock height with stock wheels? jk jk. "search function" lol

I might be doing a portion of the "Great Western Trail" up near jerome i think. Buddy of mine runs his Land Cruiser quite a bit in that area.
 
Hope I'm not hijacking from thread. But thought would share a comment. Have family in Scottsdale and visited last year really liked the area and all the outdoor activities. (Oh and warmer weather is nice to). Going to visit again in couple weeks to check out some other areas. Been kinda looking at maybe moving to AZ. This thread is intreasting and very helpful in some of decision making thanks for sharing the info.
 
I wasn't sure where to post this in the site, but I am in the Queen Creek/San Tan area. Over the last couple months, I've seen a couple nice 5th Gens: Mag Grey SR5 that was lifted, wheels/tires, roof rack, front bumper (very nice!) and another white SR5 that was lifted, wheels/tires, black stickers and I noticed it had the yellow/amber Baja fogs that I am looking at getting. I see them every now and then in the area, so I'm thinking they live around here.

Anyways, I was seeing if those guys were on here and if any other T4R guys are in the area.

Pretty sure i know who you are talking about with the white one. Check out Arizona 4runners and AZ toyota 4x4 collective on Facebook. Come to think of it, I'm pretty sure i know who you are referring to with the mag grey sr5 too.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I am one of the 7 people in the world that don't have a FB account. lol. Not that big of deal though, was just seeing if they were on this forum. Thanks man.
 
Yeah, I was hoping that the (local) forum would be more active, but like many it seems Facebook is taking over.
I'm in the Gilbert/QC area as well. Just got a new to me 2016 white TE, bone stock right now.
