ArkMaster Build Thread

Well, a few things have changed. I sold the rear bumper so i'm currently riding dirty. I've come to realize, this thing doesn't stay "street legal" for long. I'm looking into Scotty's rear bumper at Addicted Offroad. I might just fab something simple up in my buddies garage. I'll get to see. Either way, that gets to wait as I make room for the newcomer.

Currently, I'm looking at this gem:

Classifieds for Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming | ksl.com

On toy axles, revolver shackles, 37" Maxxis Creepy Crawlers, caged, stretched to a wheelbase of 109", running propane. Also comes with a trailer so i'll be able to tow it with my pretend tow rig, slowly, at high rpms...
What it needs:
Dual cases//Lockers// and then upgrades.

I offered him $3500 and he accepted, but I walked away. I'm going to see if I can scoop it up for $3000. My buddy has some lockers and dual cases for sale for $750, so this might be my new trail rig. :llama:

SASed the runner:

Oh, never mind. Just an 85 pickup...

She did great in 1 1/2 feet of powder. She pulled my buddies pickup out with little trouble after you blew up his axle shaft.

I am going to say no... Because only one wheel is even moving lol.... look at your driver rear tire lol not moving...

Well Barney is still sitting in the driveway waiting to be street legal... So here's the one offroad picture I have of him.

And the runner out at little Moab last night. Wheeling quickly turned to night wheeling which quickly turned to icey snow wheeling.... No pictures of me but tons of the group.

Here's to being inactive for another 2 or 3 weeks before posting again. :llama:

Picture updates because I haven't done anything new in ages.:

Apparently I have no recent pictures of the runner, but I have some work planned for her. She will be getting a few upgrades. Short term I will be doing the TBU and getting a bumper... Again, as well as fixing all the rust on my bumpers and sliders from rock gashes. Longer term, I will be supercharging or swapping engines, gearing, and may add an RTT since it is strictly overland/DD now. Oh, and my tow pig :couch:

Lots of fun to come

Between wheeling before I got my pickup and utahs lovely winters, my armor was picking up a fair amount of rust. Since we are mostly out of the snow season, I figured it was time for some spring cleaning.
Before with the rust:

I took some 20 grit sandpaper blocks to it. Looking back, I should have just used my Dremel.... Oh well.
All cleaned off:

I was half tempted to clear coat it like this, but alas, the primer had to be put on:

I just realized I didn't take a shot when I finished so I'll have to do that soon.

I still get to buy a new rear bumper soon, and I have my eyes on a RTT and a wmw full length roof rack with my tax return. First I need to get my chromolys in my pickup, then I'll know for sure what I can afford.

Well, after months of tormenting myself, the time has come to sell the runner. I simply can't justify keeping it when I have a full time crawler that can go anywhere, and more, that the 4runner can. I'm unsure of the details or price yet. I'm currently looking for some hardware to mount the stock rear bumper again. I'll get a FS post up when I am fully ready. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. I want to thank everybody on this forum though. It has changed my life. If not for this forum, I would have never started working or modifying my own vehicles. I would never have found my favorite hobby, rock crawling. I really appreciate it. I'll still be active, post wheeling pictures and such. Thanks so much. Will update soon with more details on sale.

Awwww, bummer! I've loved following this thread for a bit, as it seems we have very similar tastes.

I'll be looking forward to those wheeling pictures, that crawler looks super capable!

Also, 2 dollars! Gotta make sure 4Running Daily; doesn't get it!

Kind of off topic but how have you liked your Alpine head unit? That's the one I'm looking at right now.

I'd be interested in the front bumper if you plan to put the stocker back on

If I do, i'll let you know. However, I don't have the stocker anymore so most likely, it will remain as is.

Thanks man. It does a good job, but the PO did some questionable things that i'm fixing. For example, the rear shocks are mounted TO the leafs, and I have to rebuild my entire front axle because he never took care of it. Oh well, it will be a beast within a few months.

I love it man. It's the best head unit I've ever had and highly recommend it.

Aaaaaaa man just when I started reading and caught up to this build thread:sobbing:

You can just buy it to keep up :lmao:

Well, I didn't sell the runner. Somebody offered me my asking price, cash, and I just couldn't do it..... So on to maintenance items. My itres arms otres are good, but I had parts so I replaced them as well as my driver side ball joint. I'll be rerunning my emergency break lines to see if I can get my ebrake light to shut off.

I'm about to head out to Moab for Rock Therapy. I would be leaving right now if somebody was at my house on time *cough* Ben *cough*

In prep, I tightened my throttle body, checked all my fluids, checked air pressure in tires, torqued lug nuts, acquired a stock rear bumper(only the center piece) and painted it black. Should be a fun trip. These are the rigs I'll most likely be wheeling with.....

A 2nd gen runner and a 3rd gen pickup. Both are on one tons, 42s, dual cases, caged, etc. I hope the runner can keep up! Should be fun.
I hope to see some of you at BFE!
