I got my first 4runner, a 98' SR5 when I was 16 as my 4th car.

You had a 4runner as your 4th car at the age of 16? Wow, most 16 year olds are lucky to have 1 car.

I got bored so i took the badges off the back. It was super easy. All you need is a blow dryer and floss, some Goo Gone, and a rag.

Theres still a little residue but it should come off
Overall I'm stoked with the outcome.

Just a little update.

I got tons of stuff from the kind UPS man.
My Icon CO's came as well as my ext travel billies, superflex coils, my new front bumper, and my sliders are still waiting anxiously to be installed.

I still need UCA's for the lift. Can't decide between LR or Icon Uniballs. Pros? Cons?

The bumper and sliders will get a rattlecan job as soon as I have somewhere I can paint without my parents getting mad Any suggestions?

I just finished my semester at school so I should have a break and hopefully I can knock all this out in the time being!

EDIT: And I almost forgot! Just ordered some LED corner lights and License plate lights. Couldn't justify $81 for everything so this will do for now since they are out anyways!

As far as the UCA some info I've gathered is this; LR uca's are awesome and provide the same amount of travel as any of the uniball style uca's. 1 positive is they use a larger balljoint, so they will stay clean from any dirt, snow, grim/grit. Only down side (from what I heard) is anytime you take them off for whatever reason the alignment specs get adjusted (now sure why or how just something ive read) where as uniball nothing changes when taking them off and back on.

Uniball style uca are all essentially that exact same with the exception of the icons because they have the dust cap ontop, but they are the most expansive. Many people experience some noise and squeaks with uniball uca's when they get dirty but if you clean them regularly and use special lube for them I believe this can be almost completely avoidable.

So in summary, LR uca's cheapest of all the aftermarket options and probably the easiest to maintain as far as no need to clean and lube on a regular basis. Uniball versions all the same except icon because of the dust cap but dirt and grim can still get in from the bottom but im sure much less, and the icon is the most expensive.

Well, last night on my way home from work, I was playing in a church parking lot in about 4" of new snow. The popo caught me :rockon: But I had been pulled over by him before, made friends with him, and talked to him for 2 hours, so this time he walked up to me and goes, "License and reg.... Really? You again?"
ME: "Miss me? "
Hands him license.
Cop: "You know your license plate lights are out right?"
ME: "Yepp. My replacements are in the mail. Should be here monday. They'll be on the truck the moment they are in"
Cop: "Good. Now you realize the real reason I pulled you over right? Doing donuts in the church parking lot."
Yada yada yada.
The last thing he said to me was "Now i'm not gonna ruin your Christmas and give you a ticket but you're not supposed to do donuts in church parking lots... In front of cops. Now go home and fix your damn lights."

Coolest cop ever. He even followed me home to make sure I went straight home and didn't do some more "snow wheeling"

Anyways. UCA's should be ordered next week. I'm going to be painting my sliders and bumper in the next week or two. Hopefully I can call upon the welding skills of [MENTION=88576]smkd13[/MENTION] to help me with my sliders! Soon the truck will be lifted and armored, partially. Should be a good Christmas break :girl:

Got my LED license plate lights in so no more being pulled over :rofl: I also installed my LED corner lights. I would post before after pics but all have been burnt out for like a month :lol:

My headlights now look pathetic next to my LED's. LED headlights to come.

Its less blue than it looks. They are cool white.

I got my paycheck friday which means UCA's. I'm buying them brand new pre assembled and never installed, $350 shipped! and [MENTION=88576]smkd13[/MENTION] is being a homie and building me a adjustable panhard bar for $125. It's gonna be a fun 2 weeks!

Haha excellent start to what looks like a long process in the next week or so. Ill be following and stoked to hear about the icons especially, because I think I'm gonna spend the extra coin on them and run them compared to a toytec coilover. Enjoy!

Still little progress. Waiting on the PH and the UCA's to arrive. Hopefully soon.



I decided in the meantime, the new year resolution list must prevail. In no particular order, just things I want to get done this year to the truck:

-Install the bloody lift
-Install bumper and sliders
-Sound deadening
-CB radio
-New rims/tires
-Find cause of wobble over 60 mph.
-1/2" or 1" BL
-Swap all fluids, balljoints, and other important parts.
-Full skid plates.
-Start to(or fully) upgrade sound system.

I will most likely add but I think this gives me a good starting point. Hopefully I can start soon with the damned install.

Thanks man! I should have even more to go on as well but I figured I can add things whenever I want. As for the UCA's, I bought them "used" from a member. He had them assembled but were never installed. They are in absolutely perfect condition. It's awesome.

Everything should be installed within a week or two.
Anyways, Sound system is getting bumped to the top of my list. My rear speakers recently blew and now just randomly make a loud pop sound. I am also using a tape player aux cord and it sucks so i'm ready to up the anti. Any suggestions? I want some very good speakers that can outblast bass as I will be installing 2 12" jl audio subs in the back, hopefully using as little space as possible. Any recommendations?

At some point rear speakers start to become less and less important, my suggestion is to install a set of components in front and properly image the tweeters and do some deadening in the doors. Making new plates out of wood is better than using the stock plastic brackets since it will help to stiffen the door and keep a nice tight seal. If you still aren't happy with the output or you have rear passengers often, then I would reccomend either 5.25s or 4" rear speakers on low power. The placement of the rear speakers right under the driver pulls the soundstage down and can hurt the sound instead of helping.

I stopped running rear speakers for this very reason, my tweeters are imaged well enough to keep up with my 18" Sub on 3500rms and I'm only feeding them 20w a piece.

If you need any help with installing stuff properly, feel free to pm me. At this point I've had about every possible front stage placement and should be able to help you make the most out of your setup.

Depends on your goals, how much power you want to run, budget and how much space you want to give up. Most of my reccomendations won't be the larger companies like JL and alpine though.

Lets put it this way. I am getting 2 10" w0 or w1 JL audio subs because I have had awesome experience with JL in the past.

I want some speakers that will sound better than my bass so its not just bass. But I do like bass..... If you get my issue?

Should be easy enough since you only need to keep up with 600w, off the top of my head I can only think of one component set that would work well for you, the massive audio SK6, the 4runner doors only allow for 2.5" of depth for the mids and those should be under, they are also silk dome tweeters I believe, which sound a lot smoother than aluminum or titanium domes, I'm sure I can find more later tonight when I'm on the computer.

Also I'm not saying JL is bad or anything, but there are a couple subs you should really check out, the sundown E10 and SSA DCON 10, if you're interested I can explain why later.
