I just moved to Atlanta, GA and I have to take my 4R in for scheduled maintenance. I've asked in the Georgia forum, but only got one response, which was "stay away from toyota world on peachtree." Just curious if anyone else has dealer recommendations or warnings for the Atlanta area. Thanks guys!

I have no experience except with World Toyota. I've only taken my vehicle in for the free oil changes and an alignment. The first oil change went great. The second resulted in loose oil filter cover and slow oil leak all over the skid plates... I noticed in a few days so no damage, but the dealership did re-do the oil change. My alignment was after a lift and resulted in a toe-and-go. I asked to speak with the tech and asked him if he even touched the eccentric bolts to which he replied "No, that will open a can of worms" to which I replied, "that's why I pay $80 for the alignment" - they took it back around and did it right... You can see the service bay (at least the alignment rack) from outside - so I kind of kept an eye on 'em without being too obvious... lol.

So the moral of the story is: If you must go - CHECK THEIR WORK!!!!!!!

Nalley Toyota of Roswell has been great everytime I've been. I had some buddies that worked there, and they always did the work for me, but they've since moved on to other jobs. I've still had great service from them. I've actually got to call sometime this week to arrange for my last free service this Friday.

World Toyota has always been a nightmare to deal with. They do not listen to or address the items you specifically point out. They left the oil cap off our old Scion after an oil change and our engine compartment was covered. I suggest avoiding World Toyota at all cost. I have heard good things about Atlanta Toyota, which is where I plan on going from now on.

You never know who will be working on your vehicle so if it's routine maintenaince I plan on doing as much as I can myself. There are a lot of good maintenance refernces online here to assist you if you are a do it yourself kind of guy.

Dealership service is only as good as the employee they have working that day. Especially the tire and oil change guys tend to have the least experience and care less. I have had tire lug nuts stripped, center hub cap scraped because they didn't know they should be removed first, and oil pan covers not reinstalled because heck they just get in the way!

If your anywhere near the Suwanee/Buford area I can recommend a great independent shop - not a Toyota dealer. Not certain if you can be reimbursed but I would rather pay for an oil change from someone I trust or do it myself.

To answer your question though I have used Atlanta Toyota and Mall of Georgia Toyota and have had both good and bad experiences with both. good luck!

I can recommend a great shop, and that would be ToyoTechs at 4185 Clairmont Rd. Chamblee, GA 30341. They do it right the first time.

Agreed on ToyoTechs ! They are my first choice but won't do certain major jobs.

I've also had good work done at Sandy Springs Toyota once past the miserable service writer experiences.

Nalley Roswell: if you are buying parts over the counter there you did not compare prices at other dealers

I've had mixed experiences at both World Toyota and Atlanta Toyota with my Sequoia and 4R. Had a great internet buying experience with Atlanta Toyota. Both have done sloppy work on simple things like balancing tires and fixing a squeak in a door (white lithium grease spayed ALL over every inch of the inside of the door was NOT the fix I was looking for) and after reading up on Tundra forum I'm questioning an estimate to fix the back window on the Sequoia...will know if they were telling the truth after I get into the hatch and repair it. I did get a great deal on tires at World Toyota but glad I had the original estimate b/c they tried to charge me an extra $200 at checkout.

I would still use both but definitely go in already having knowledge of what you want done, what it should cost, and check their work. Glad to see the recommendation on an independent shop and will use them next.

Agree on avoid World Toyota, they cranked the drain plug on the oil filter down so much that I had to just remove the entire filter. Recommend doing simple jobs yourself or just paying to have them done.

World Toyota and Sandy Springs are okay...

To be honest, no dealer is all that good at service -- all the best techs leave and open their own shops! Plus, the volume they deal with plus the "book" rates means they really don't spend the time a real problem requires. I was looking at both World and Sandy Springs when I bought my 4R, and I felt like I got treated well and fairly by both (World just had the exact truck I wanted, plus gave me a good trade-in on my X5, even AFTER we found out Global Imports had sold me a wrecked car without disclosing it -- NEVER EVER deal with Global!!!!)

Anyhoo, I've only gone in to World for the 5, 10 and 15K checkups, and all went fine (I hate that they only want to change the oil at 10K intervals though, I would have rather done an "extra" one at 5 just to make sure everything was nice and clean). Not sure what I'll do now that I've burned up my 3 free "services". But after my X5 fiasco, I ended up maxing the warranty on the 4R, so I guess I'll be seeing the dealer for the next 7 years or so for any malfunctions.

If you get to "know" a few people at a service center, it always seems like you get better service.

a friend of mine bought an fj from sandy springs in 07, the salesman was hysterical, when he picked up the fj, they had it on red carpet with every door, hood open, the salesman did this dance and moved around the car closing the doors and sending us on our way. also they had morris day on their commerials. This has nothing to do with the service dept though.

Hi Bourbonator,

I use to live in Conyers, just east of Lithonia GA. I Bought my 3rd gen 4Runner from "Conyers Toyota" and they treated me like royalty at this dealership. I haven't much regard for dealers per'se, but when one is bending over backwards to keep your business/gain your trust, it's worth a 2nd look (imo).

Being a technician myself, I was able to develop a relationship with the lead mechanic in their shop; resulting in my (informal) invitation into the shop, whenever my truck was there for service. P.S: walking into that sweltering shop (90+ deg F.), with a 6 pack of ice cold Pepsi~Cola's, didn't hurt my frequent, unannounced visitation one bit! :guitar2:

If you're interested, they're located at: 945 Iris drive, Conyers Ga. You can take I-20 east, just (about a mile) past the "Stonecrest" mall; they're actually on I-20 (Iris drive is a service rd.) on the right hand side, east bound.
