Audio/Navagation

It had a 6.5" screen and it seems that I can get 7" from other brands and it only held one disc. 2 seems necessary to me.

There is a new model alpine coming out in about a month or two. It's the IVA-W505 do a google search or you can check Alpine's spring catalog:Alpine 2008 Catalog pdf

As far as the two discs go, the reason most of them have two slots is one for the Navi DVD and the other for an audio CD. So really you only have one CD slot, and if you want to play a DVD then you have to take the navi DVD out, at least that's the way it was on some of the Eclipse HUs I was looking at.

Not true, the 6600 and up have two DVD slots.

I looked at an Apine tonight I forget the model# but I don'think it was the latest and greatest.

But the nice thing about it was that black bird navagation that you can take out and use in another car.

That is a really nice feature.

I still think I like the eclipse

Check out the Eclipse AVN2210

I stand corrected, the older models when I was looking at them has one CD and one DVD and the DVD was basically reserved for the Navi. I probably should have been a little clearer that it was the older models that there this way.

Eclipse 6620

Here are a couple of pics of my Eclipse 6620 that I just installed last week. It is the new 2008 model (replaced the 6610), but I don't know what new features (if any)were added.

That's true, but the second DVD slot doubles as a CD drive also. My 6620 can play DVDs or CDs in the top slot, while the bottom DVD slot is reserved for the mapping software only.

Thanks for the pictures. The 6620 has an 7" screen over the 6610 6.5"

No, the screen size definitely stayed the same. Both have a 7" screen.

ES , looks pretty cool , nice choice .

I would just be happy if my stereo sounded better .....lol.

Do I need to buy the Ipod adapter or can I use the factory one that is already installed?? i don't have a cable for the one that is factory installed. It's in my center console

I ended up buying the pioneer from crutchfield... It was just too good a deal to pass up.
I would of liked to get to get the Eclipse but it just wasn't the best value at this time imo.

Seems like a great unit for the price, I've just heard bad things about the nav part of the system but this was last year when I choice Eclipse over the pioneer. Maybe things have changed since. Keep us posted how it turns out.

I just put in a Kenwood Dnx7100 in my 08 sport and it is awesome. I also have my nano hooked up with 2k songs. The navigation is garmin and is top notch.

Dan, I have the DNX7100 also and I LOVE it! One question, how do you connect your I POD to it?

I found a good deal on an AVIC-Z1, what problems should I except to see sticking it in an early 03 SE with 6 disc JBL, will I need an adapter kit to make it work with the amp, it will come with Bluetooth and Backup Cam.

I've not heard anyone make the OEM amp work with any other system. Most bypass it because it is fed very uniquely (digital I think) compared to standard amps.
