Auto LSD and Stablity Coltroll Toggle

I don't know if the other generation 4runners have a Auto LSD and a stability control toggle button, but I was wondering in which situations should you turn these off and on. I say this because today I went over to a beach to see how the v8 handled on sand. All I can say is "WOW" it has some drifting power. I got carried away and found myself stuck in the sand. When I get stuck, should I turn off the LSD? I found it wont let me drift without reducing power when the stability control comes on so I had it off. I eventually got pulled out, (embarrassing), but I never knew if I should turn the LSD back on, or just keep it off.

You posted in the classic t4r forum, most of us only have a inline 4 or at best the old 3L V6 None of us have traction control that comes from pushing a button LOL some do however have a limited slip differential (LSD) but, most are not electric or air controlled.

The limited slip when engaged may have helped you out

You want it 'on' in scenario you described. When the button is off there's an Auto-LSD function that works in conjunction with other stuff including throttle control. If you try to get out of a stuck situation you'll notice the throttle seems unresponsive and slow. It may not let enough power through to spin the wheels or move the vehicle.

When the Auto-LSD button is pushed you'll have full control of the throttle to the point you can spin the rear tires.

LSD stands for limited-slip differential and refers to the systems ability to send power to the wheel with better traction. Without some type of limited-slip and one wheel on ice only the ice wheel would get power.

I agree. I own a 2wd SR5 and one time I was off-roading in some mud up hill and I got stuck I floor the pedal but my RPM's would not climb then I pushed the LSD button and rear tires spun and I slow crawled out of my problem. I think its there for "safety" on the road as when I wanna peel out it gives me no power and the rear brakes are on when off however yeah use your imagination. lol
