Auto to Manual questions.

Okay so in the next couple of months I intend on swapping my 99 Limited 4x4 from auto to manual. I have tried searching the forum and found nothing on the subject so if there is info here please send me a link, if not has anyone done it?
I have already priced a brand new trans at around $2000 which I am willing to drop if I know it can be done reasonably for the rest of the parts needed. If it can't I will begin my search for a 2007+ Tundra or maybe an 02 supercharged runner.

Your best bet is to buy a wrecked 4Runner that way you have everything you will need. You can get a low mileage one for under $2,000 and sell other parts to recoup money. I went this route when I did a 5spd swap in a previous 4Runner and the swap was very easy to do and cost me about a $100 with brand new clutch.

If you just order the parts you will need the clutch hard lines and soft line that goes from the master cylinder to the slave cylinder, the pedal bracket from truck with clutch pedal, the master cylinder, the center console portion from a 5spd 4Runner. You can either get a manual ecu or trick the auto

For 99, in theory it should be easy. All you need is the manual ecu and it should be plug and play to eliminate the CEL code. Only headache will be wiring reverse lights. Unless you swap the whole engine harness.

$2000??? Dude really? Your going to need the PCM, both drive shafts, the clutch pedal and assembly, brake pedal, and a transfercase. Your best luck is to find a donor vehicle for probably cheaper then $2000 and swap whatever you need over.

I'm currently in process of repining my auto harness so it will work with manual pcm. However I own a 97 so its different. But I picked everything up for $400 minus the PCM. Which was $75.
