Auxiliary driving lights

I have an 01 SR5 Runner and I would like to add some auxiliary driving lights.

What are the recommendations for a street legal set up?

I briefly read about the hella 55 W black magic driving lights but does anyone have first-hand experience with using these?

Lastly, are there any LED driving lights that are street legal? I would like to find a set of lights that I can run alongside of my factory headlights.

What do you mean by street legal, DOT approved?
Usually the legality is with the placement (height is a big factor), which varies from state to state.

Depends on your state.

Right now, I'm running a single long range 6x9, and two Hella 6" lights on my roof rack. On the interstate, or back roads, I'll turn them on, BUT when I see a car I shut them off.

As far as DRIVING lights, you can't really get away with the big bright ones, like Baja Lights or something like that.

The small ones, like the fog lights you get from Walmart, Autozone, ect, you can get away with, AS LONG AS THEY'RE AIMED PROPERLY.

Where are you wanting to mount them, are you going to run them all the time like fogs, what are you planning to do with them?

I got the long range last year for Christmas, and they've been great. THey were easy to install and set, and the light they put out is insane. I only use them like I would hi-beams. I believe the driving lights version would be better for what you are looking for..a more spread out, close range light. They have a 23 yr warranty, so thats a plus.

I use the rigid industries d2's every night on the street and never get flashed by oncoming traffic. They put all other fog lights to shame...

Where are they mounted? Top of bumper or low like fog lights? Are they they the ones with the diffused lens?

PIAA makes a lot of good lights LED, HID(although those are for off road use only) and halogen lights. they come in driving, fog, all terrain, long range, running ect patterns and they are pobably the best lights you can get for the money, come complete with plug and play wire harness' that even retarded monkeys cant screw up.

I am running a set of Vision X 4" LED lights on my GMC truck under the bumper for fog lights. These things light things a long way off. You can now see things up to a 1/4 mile down the road. Take a look at the setups that Vision X has for factory replacement fog lights in their catalog. They are pricey, but the lighting is excellent. There is a wholesale outlet that you can buy from.

BTW, I just picked up my SW rear bumper this morning, and so I hope to get it installed by this weekend...
