awd and 4wd not working or engaging please offer suggestions.

Hi, I have a 2003 4runner (v8) with about 165k on it. Just in the past day or two i noticed my runner felt unstable in snow and slush. Long story short, I went out and tested it by doing/attempting to do donuts. Normally I the car will not do them (VSC or 4WD will stop it) today I could do them. And I almost would get stuck going up a slight up hill. I feel like I am not getting power to the front wheels. I have bridgestone dualer at revo 2 on the runner. They have well over half the life left.

Any one else have this problem?

I live in VT and the temp was -22 one night (not sure if that would make a difference)

If I understand what you are asking.. I need to ask if your vsc and abs light are illuminated?

they light up just like they would if it was working, you know flashing and stuff. when i look the diff they are solid.
