I used it years ago and have a little bit of the left overs on my stock front bumper. I hit a deer in December and bent it slightly but the bedliner didn't crack...it held up quite well.

Spray it with higher pressure than it suggests to get a fine finish. I've posted pics of my old landcruiser with raptor liner on it in this forum before. Probably have some pics of my 4runner with it on there as well.

Do it yourself and save that money. It's super easy and all you need is a compressor. I sprayed half my Landcruiser with 5 quarts so I'd say you atleast need 8 for a 4runner.

The money you save not paying someone to do it for you would afford you an air compressor and at the end of the day you have a raptored truck and an air compressor to show for it.

Simply tape off, scuff the paint, mix, and spray.
 
True , what's the prep for it? Do you need to sand down the entire vehicle? Can you paint like the chrome (I thinknthey are plastic) grill? Can I paint the bumpers that are chrome?
 
I did the trim on my limited with rattle can truck bed liner I'm sure this stuff is better then the rust o leum bu it's pretty stout itself.

I barely scuffed my chrome bumper and applied it. Like I said earlier, I hit a deer going about 70. It bent my bumper but didn't crinkle up my bedliner...that's asking a lot out of a do it yourself bedliner.

I was in a hurry but I highly recommend sanding or roughing up the paint before applying. No primer needed.

I like the look of that stuff and my anthracite metallic is looking really bad. When I have some more money for a paint job I'd like to get the tintable kind, add a little color, and paint.

Just trying to make sure of the process of this, scuff the paint, tape around parts you don't want sprayed( does it matter how many coats of tape?) mix, paint and let dry( how long to dry ? ) paint again , again, again, ( do you have to re tape off the parts between each coat or can I use the same tape from the beginning? ) also how do you get the finish to be more smooth? Do you spray closer to it and lighter coats ? Also how hard is this stuff to get it to look good? Like even and not look like **** basically? Thanks just trying to figure out everything before I jump into this

Tape the edges off with masking tape...don't use that blue painters tape. It doesn't stay in place very well. Cover any large areas with newspaper or plastic or whatever.

Scuff the area your bedlining. Then you're ready to spray. I highly recommend getting a fine rough finish by using high air pressure and doing it on a day with low humidity.

Next, when your spraying just keep the gun about a foot away. If you don't see Bedliner making it to the surface then move in closer. I never stopped spraying until I finished the 5 quarts I used. Make sure you take the tape off before the bedliner dries but be careful since the product is still soft.

I'd let it sit for quite a few hours before driving it.

Btw bedliner is paintable after or before it dries. If it starts to fade simply spray it back black.

One layer of tape is fine and you don't have to re-tape every time just don't let it dry before spray the next coat.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I want to do the whole thing I love the look of the one that I posted of it completely covered in it, my paint looks fine from about 10 feet but then you get up close and it looks pretty bad so I'm thinking this would be great for the whole car to be easy, cheap, and practical, since it's tuff stuff that won't scratch or anything.

Sometimes it can be hard to get the dirt out of it...that's bedliner in general. Just so you know.
 
Just curious if you went and painted it or not. I'm interested in hearing about the fading of it. I am faced with re-painting my 98 and I was going to tint the raptor liner to the anthrocite metallic (f'd up spelling I know). I've sprayed it before on my pickup but that was recently so any news....or better yet pics!
 
My friend bedlined his 2nd gen and it looked good when it was first painted but after a couple of years it just looks dusty all the time even when it's clean which some of the dirt just doesn't want to come off. I'd consider how it's going to age before I bedlined anything.

i did paint it but i used monstaliner which i really like

Even fading out is fine with me as long as it doesn't look like the roll on stuff (herculiner etc) after a couple of years. There's a couple of heeps (I meant jeeps but the keys are slippery) on base that did that and their rigs look worse they they do new.

The peeling is of more concern with me and I'm going to be very careful to apply this stuff to the best of my ability. I have a paint booth lined up for this application and heat lamps to boot.

Read your writeup on that monstaliner.....looks great!

Now can you tint it any color?

I am not really picky about color usually but my 98 is the Anthracite Metallic. I kinda like it lol. Beyond that I know tan doesn't fade much so the fading might be kind of a moot point. That's why I painted my 82 tan
